Covid-19 has taken a toll on all of us, many small businesses in Austin (especially bars, live music venues  and restaurants) have already closed and the rest are struggling to stay afloat.  Elysium is no different.  We look forward to re-opening as soon as we are safely able to do so.  Maintaining any small business is always challenging but this is the toughest challenge we have faced in our 19 years.  Even when we are allowed to re-open it will likely be with limited capacity and new challenges.  We need your help to keep Elysium open.  We have been closed for 9 months in order to keep our staff, patrons and the Austin community safe.   Elysium opened in 2001, in the wake of 9/11 to an uncertain future.  It is the oldest, longest-running venue in the Red River District.  Elysium has always taken pride in being a place where everyone can feel accepted, safe, and belong. Whether you have been to our Sunday 80's Nite,  Drag Shows (Poo Poo Platter, Die Felecia!, Boiz of Austin, Joterias), Goth/Industrial Events, K-Pop Nights, 90's Nights, Retro Rage Events, or one of the many Live Music Shows (so many bands) we would ask for your help so that we can continue to provide a space for the various communities we serve. We have managed to continue paying rent, utilities and insurance but we are at a point where we need help to continue meeting these demands.  It is difficult to ask, but we can no longer allow our pride to get in the way of maintaining this space that has brought joy to so many of us and served so many of our under-served alternative communities of Austin. Fundraiser for Elysium

My sister Corrina Lawson lost her beloved husband of 20 years, Ryan Northcott, this week. His death was greatly unexpected and has shocked Corrina, their two children and our entire family. In the days and weeks to come, Corrina and the girls will need help and support as they try to heal from this sudden tragedy. Unfortunately her husband didn’t have life insurance or savings. With this loss, the financial challenges are overwhelming for my sister and my beautiful nieces. The family needs assistance with cremation, with finding a new place to live, and in addition to all of these stressors they are also facing financial hardship due to losing half the household income.  Furthermore, they will need to find child care services now that no one will be able to supervise my 9-year-old niece through the day.   My oldest niece had been excited to attend college but will likely have to put this on an indefinite hold in order to assist in providing for her mother and her 9-year-old sister.  The rest of our family are doing all that we can, but given the severity of these circumstances I'm reaching out to any of our friends here who might be able to offer some relief to them as well.  It's going to be an extremely rough road ahead of them, so every bit of help in getting them back on their feet will be most appreciated.  No amount is too small to make a real difference in their lives. Support for Widow and Daughters of Ryan Northcott

On November 1st, a man walked into our oddities and curiosities shop, The Wilde Collection in Houston TX with a can of gasoline and set our little shop on fire. A few of our pets were lost as well as many irreplaceable items. Having this shop has always been a dream of ours. It was an incredible feeling seeing so many of you come and appreciate what we tried to do. You inspired so much of our shop and even inspired much of my art itself.    We are completely devastated and at a loss for words. Some of you may not know but we also live in the building behind the doors you saw were locked when you visited the shop. That adds a layer to this tragedy Your outpouring words of support and encouragement have given us the will to rise from our ashes.  We have never done  anything like this and there is a part in us that feels uncomfortable asking for your help. All we ever wanted was to help provide beautiful and unique items for your home and offer you the immersive experience that was The Wilde Collection.  With your encouragement, we have started this crowd funding campaign. We don't know how much we will need or how long it will take but one thing we are certain is that we MUST rebuild.  Thanks in advance for any help you can give. Three weeks ago my girlfriend Sophya and I were rear-ended on the freeway,resulting in totaling our car. For the last two years I have been care giving for my mother who is currently in hospice waiting to cross over. My mother became unexpectedly homeless just as she became terminally ill. She began treatment at MD Anderson. During this time I rented a second apartment and made many trips back and forth from Houston for my mother's treatments which ultimately resulted in maxing out all of my credit cards. All this while caring for our 14 cats, 2 who have had surgery in the last two months. We have also taken in my moms awesome elderly dog Max. I explain all this to explain the tremendous financial strain I am under while also in a time of crisis. My car was totaled out at only 2,000 dollars and I'm hoping to raise money to help me buy a more reliable car and also keep my debts from collections. The insurance stopped paying for my rental after a week and I am paying for it out of pocket for the last two weeks. I  have not even received the check for my car. The rental is a massive drain but I have to be mobile to be able to go back and forth to hospice. Sophya and I rarely have asked for help but now we are in a place where we have no choice but to ask for support. So to all our friends, family and anyone who hears our story, any amount helps and even a share is very powerful as well. We are truly grateful for all the support.
