<div>I started Caring by Card after visiting my mother, Shaunna, in nursing homes after she developed early onset Alzheimer's Disease. During my visits, I saw many elderly, sick, and disabled residents sitting alone, with very little human interaction. Many seemed lonely, unseen, and forgotten. My heart ached and <a href="https://www.caringbycard.org" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Caring by Card</a> was born.

<div>Since then, Caring by Card has helped get <strong>30,000 handwritten cards to residents in 280 nursing homes in every state in the U.S</strong>. Our corps of volunteers includes Girl Scouts, schools, and everyday Americans who want to connect across generations. We also coordinate with major corporations to organize card-making events.
