Chris McKean

My name is Chris McKean, Westin’s Preschool Teacher. I have cared for Westin since he was a few months old. Westin is a part of my heart, our childcare center, and our community. With great joy, Chris and Chantelle are sharing that Westin will become a Big Brother in 2026! Westin and his family are blessed to announce their pregnancy with you. Chantelle is hospitalized at Sharp Mary Birch in her 14th week of pregnancy. With the expansion of their family comes many unknowns; however, this unknown has caused Chantelle Fung to be hospitalized since March 24th with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, or HG for short. When the “morning sickness” came on, Chantelle knew the drill. Tie her hair back, get sick, rinse, and repeat. She was prepared to take on the hormones and come out on the other side. Unfortunately, she lost an alarming amount of weight, could not stomach ice chips, so off to urgent care she went. Again and again and again. After a few trips to Urgent Care, then the ED, the decision was made to hospitalize Chantelle back in March. She hoped to be home by Easter. Chris and Chantelle met while Chris was in a transition period. They bonded over their shared love for Hawaii, Labradors, dogs, and their faith in God, while packing up and moving boxes. Talk about a transition! As Chris and Chantelle approach their 9th Wedding Anniversary, they are humbled and accepting grace from their shared community. We know how giving The Fung Family is through their service actions with church, friends, and family. We understand the hardships are settling in of financially managing medical bills, unexpected extended child care, and unexpected travel expenses. We rally around The Fung Family now to provide the love and support for Westin and his parents.
