<div>Hi there, and thank you for taking the time to consider supporting our mission. My name is Kimm Topping (they/them), and for over a decade, I've been dedicated to LGBTQIA+ education and youth advocacy. <strong>Two years ago, we launched this fundraiser with the goal of supporting queer and trans youth leaders</strong>, and we were fortunate to raise $1,500—an incredible start! Since then, we've spent time exploring new ideas, connecting with the community, and building partnerships with local groups. Now, we’re coming back to our original mission with even more determination, ambition, and clarity.

<div><strong>Our work is more urgent than ever. </strong>Queer and trans people are under attack across the country, and our communities, especially our youth, are bearing the brunt of this. With almost<strong> 600 bills this year alone aimed at restricting the rights of queer and trans people </strong>(according to the ACLU), it's clear that education, history, and community support are more essential than ever.

<div>We are refocusing on the goals that inspired our start—funding youth activists and creating platforms for queer/trans history, education, and creative expression. Here's what we're working toward:

<div><strong>Youth Queer History Institute in Boston: </strong>A program designed to empower and fund young activists by providing them with the skills, mentorship, and resources needed to make lasting change. Young fellows will receive a stipend and be trained to lead historic walking tours and other educational programming.

<div><strong>Free Physical Newspaper:</strong> A community-driven publication featuring local queer and trans writers, artists, and activists, dedicated to preserving and amplifying queer/trans history. Local artists and writers will be paid for their work.
</div>

<div><strong>How to Do Queer History: </strong>Over the past couple years, we've piloted a course that supports community members in learning the skills of queer historians. This March, we're expanding it in partnership with The History Project. We want to offer this course regularly, and provide scholarships.

<div><strong>Exhibit on Queer and Trans Youth Activist History:</strong> Collaborating with national archives to curate an exhibit dedicated to highlighting and recognize the impact of queer and trans youth activists.

<div><strong>Arts and Education Programming:</strong> Offering more free programming for queer and trans people in Boston and NYC, including a writers fellowship, creating spaces for creative expression, mentorship, and community building.

We believe every young person deserves the chance to see themselves reflected in their history, to have their voice heard, and to feel supported in their activism.

Sustain Lavender Education

<p>I’m creating this healing fund for my big brother who was shot several times the end of last year. In telling this story, I wondered what details and appeals should be made so that community members- some who are beautiful strangers, would contribute enough funds so that my brother can afford medical expenses and enough to survive until he can work again. <strong>But all of it felt like trying to explain why any Black being deserves peace, safety, and joy.</strong> <br /><br />All I know is that most people would not survive being shot in the heart, but he did and his life holds inherent worth outside of any measure of productivity I could woo you with. <br />All I know is that he is my brother and no matter how old he gets, I view him like this:<br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/62482335_1641779268494800_r.jpeg" alt="62482335_1641779268494800_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/62482335_1641779300456880_r.jpeg" alt="62482335_1641779300456880_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />And there is a world where his life could be lived with minimal struggle. $10,000 is a lot but in reality, it is much less than the costs we have already bore and it is much less than the true cost of healing (and I do not mean this figuratively). Our family has exhausted savings and other sources to support his recovery, but now we call on community support.

Healing Fund for My Broranasaurus

<div>I'm writing to invite you to offer any available support for my loved one, Joha's, Dad and sister who recently immigrated here from Venezuela in August.  They were displaced from their home due to a fire in their building this past week (mid November). Luckily everyone is okay physically, but they will need to find a new place to live.  Additionally, Joha's Dad is not able to work right now due to a debilitating shoulder injury.

Post-Fire Support Needed

Up until now, the diverse City of Everett has lacked LGBTQ+ related resources. In a city with prominent Black, Latinx, immigrant, and/or low-income populations, having access to resources is critical. The Everett LGBTQ+ Youth Space and Resource Center (ELYSARC) is the first LGBTQ+ specific resource for the city and one of the only physical spaces in the Greater Boston area. LGBTQ+ youth, especially those who are BIPOC, undocumented, and low-income (a significant amount of Everett’s residents), are at heightened risk of homelessness, mental health issues/suicide, incarceration, as well as sexual and physical violence (at home, at school, and in public). <br /><br />Having a safe space to simply exist has proven to be crucial to the livelihood of LGBTQ+ youth and ELYSARC plans to serve as a protective factor against the various harms and violence LGBTQ+ youth are subjected to. Beyond providing a space and services that focus on the health and safety of the youth, we aim to also enhance the quality of life for these youth by consistently providing opportunities for carefree fun, access to similarly identified adults, and a wide array of services and support to set them up for future success. Though the space is catered to youth, adults are welcome to access the space during the designated hours listed on our website.<br /><br />Although our program is affiliated with the City of Everett, we are not employed or funded by them, and thus, we rely solely on grants and fundraising to maintain operations. Free Plants BOS: Community Plant Giveaway

On November 7th, 2020,  a fatal accident occurred outside of a family event that took the life of Na-Jae Josephs. Na-jae was only 20 years old with so much life left to experience. He shared moments and lessons everyday that have left an unforgettable impact on those who were blessed enough to have shared them with him. His infectious smile lit up a room, no matter your connection with Na-Jae he was memorable. He loved music and dancing and living his life to the fullest no matter what the circumstances were.But, most importantly, he gave constant love to his friends and to his family, notably his mother. A day rarely went by when he didn't mention his mom or pull up her latest post just to say how beautiful she was. He loved her more than anything and she was his best friend. Now, although it is so difficult to think past this moment, we need to think of what has been left behind. A single mother who has recently lost, not only her only son, but her father as well due to COVID, who needs our help. She would not ask herself, so it is our job to think of what Na-jae would have wanted and to look over her on his behalf. So, we ask, if there is anything at all that you would like to contribute, that you think of his grieving mother at this time. We know he's watching over us and healing will take time. The money from this gofundme will be used to fund the funeral, any extra expenses needed to bring him to his home country, Jamaica, and also to cover any remaining amounts needed for his grandfather's burial. Any leftover money will be used to support the memorial costs at Umass Boston and on the Harbor walk to offer a more accessible location to pay respects for those who will be unable to travel abroad to do so. His mother is currently listed as the beneficiary of all donations, and she will have complete control over its use and have total access to any excess proceeds which will remain with her to offer some peace of mind and support. We are so deeply touched with the results of this fund and we congratulate all of you for your ability to come together at this dark time and give so much of your love and generosity to Na-jae's family. Najae Josephs Memorial Fund

<p><br /><strong>Hello Everyone, </strong><br /><br />I have been notified that I need surgery in the next 1-2 weeks!  I'm a Brown round wobbly boi who needs an emergent Hysterectomy! (Sidenote: I'm a Virgo about to celebrate my birthday in post-op recuperation.)<br /><br />I've just been diagnosed with Focal complex hyperplasia with atypia, developing in hyperplasia with tubal metaplasia, involving polypoid endometrium.  In other words, I have pre-cancerous cells in my uterus walls that've grown and expedited. I will need to have a total hysterectomy. This means -- removal of my uterus, fallopian tubes, and cervix. The ovaries are not affected, the previous cyst (Oh, the notorious Cystina of July 2019!) has resolved. Now, there are new obstacles ahead. This wasn't part of my transition plan, so I am sad about this. <br /><br /><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">SURGERY DATE:</span> - CONFIRMED  8/27 THURS</strong><br />While trying to find source of constant pain &amp; intense bleeding in the last 2 years, we have found some answers! <br /><br />Each trip to the OB/GYN &amp; last year's medical stay debacle led to expensive treatment where I'm repeatedly misgendered, questioned about my body in ways that are not gender affirming, medical staff without cultural sensitivity re-assigning me, which places me and my partner in uncomfortable positions and advocacy. Like many in the U.S. empire during COVID, I am also tackling self-advocacy &amp; medical debt. The pandemic impacted my income, canceling almost all of my events &amp; engagements. <strong>I'm currently facing 40k in medical debt </strong> related to this surgery &amp; searching for treatment. <br /><br />I'm blessed to receive a referral to a Reproductive Health Cancer Specialist. I am grateful for my beloved &amp; chosen family for their support. I am blessed to find hope in treatment and to hopefully/finally receive relief. The surgery healing time if it remains laproscopic &amp; without larger incisions is 3-4 weeks, with 6 weeks total internal recovery. <br /><br />Sadly, during this surgery + post-op, I have to miss event/gig opportunities in order to heal. My team and I will update this fundraiser as my medical journey pivots. Thank you for your patience as we navigate healthcare &amp; medical industrial complex. <br /><br />I understand COV-19 and state violence are heinous, especially to QTBIPOC. Immigrant Community Mutual Aid-Cosecha MA

After a difficult year,  a couple of weeks ago,  my mother Mardia, awoke to black smoke and a blazing fire in her New York City apartment. She was able to get out just in the nick of time. We are thankful for her life! The apartment is no longer habitable and her belongings were destroyed.<br /><br />We are opening this fundraiser to help her re-establish roots. Mom is also navigating health challenges that require she be in close proximity to her current health care providers. These funds will go to helping secure stable, accessible housing, replacing clothing and other essentials, along with equipment she requires for her work. Your support will truly enable her to get back on her feet after this setback. <br /><br />Thank you for your care and support!

Help Mom recover from a fire!

In 2015 Joshua Allen and CeCe McDonald came together to form the Black Excellence Collective. A grassroots organizing collective for and by Black trans/queer youth to organize for our collective liberation using art, direct action &amp; political education. <br /><br />For 5 years we have operated as a volunteer collective. We've organized rally's and vigils to uplift trans and gender non conforming folks lost to state or interpersonal violence. Hosted countless workshops and trainings to educate our community. And coordinated direct support to folks experiencing housing/food insecurity, incarceration and immigration detention. We have done all of this work without exceeding a budget of $50,000 a year.  <br /><br />Now we find ourselves called to rise up and take action like never before. Our Black trans and queer communities have been disproportionately impacted by the issues that are ravaging our society today. Racism, transphobia, COVID-19, rising rates of unemployment and job loss, housing insecurity, police and interpersonal violence and so much more. <br /><br />We are asking for your help to make a major investment in our youth led, Black trans/queer organizing work that is vital to the health and well being of our communities. We are raising $100,000 so that we can stand up and fight back! We aim to expand our mutual aid work, coordinate direct actions that center and uplift Black trans lives, to increase our educational capacity to train the next generation of youth activists, and increase our support for incarcerated trans folks fighting to survive in U.S prisons, jails &amp; detention centers. <br /><br />The funds will be used as follows: <br />     --$50,000 for bail funds, legal fees and food/ride share support for Black trans/queer youth in NYC (50%)<br />     --$20,000 to build out organizing and arts mentorship program for Black trans/queer youth in NYC (20%)<br />     --$15,000 to send commissary funds to incarcerated or detained Black trans/queer young folks nationally (15%)<br />     --$15,000 to continue mutual aid micro grants program to Black trans folks impacted by COVID-19 nationally (15%)<br /><br />To create a world where #BlackTransLivesMatter we need to organize around the issues that impact our communities while we are still here! We need to create the conditions for our communities to THRIVE, not just survive. <br /><br />Young people, particularly young Black trans/queer people have been some of the world's most valuable contributors to movements for racial and gender justice across human history. Unfortunately, for far too long our work has gone under-resourced and overlooked.<br /><br />During this moment of reckoning in our country the Black Excellence Collective is answering the call to fight for our freedom. Black Trans Lives Matter Youth Fund

The community has been reaching out in support of Bree’s family and wanting to donate to the cause. First off, we are SO THANKFUL for EVERYONE standing up for justice and saying her name! We’re not stopping until we truly get justice! All of you are such a blessing! It’s amazing! <br /><br />Second of all, we are thankful for the offers for donations. My sister and niece are too proud to say it, but this is a tough fight and it does take a toll. They’re both hard workers and they’re missing out on some work (and sleep!) in this fight for justice.<br /><br />We do not expect anyone to donate to this cause; your voices are being heard and that alone is so powerful!
