Christina is my wife and the loving mother of our six-year-old son, Michael. She is known for her kindness, her outgoing spirit, and her willingness to help anyone in need. Just a few months ago, Christina finished chemotherapy after undergoing a hysterectomy for ovarian cancer. We thought we were finally turning a corner, but then she began experiencing severe headaches. When she went to the ER, doctors discovered a small lesion on her brain, and she had to undergo brain surgery the very next day.

 This has been an incredibly challenging time for our family. Christina has always been my caretaker, especially since I had a stroke, and now we are both facing health struggles while raising our young son. The sudden need for brain surgery, on top of her recent cancer treatment, has left us with mounting medical bills. Our family, friends, and neighbors have been amazing—my mom is helping with Michael, and Christina’s friend is caring for our puppy—but the financial burden is overwhelming.

<strong>My name is Beverly Wahl and my husband and I adopted Dulci (Dulcinea Hope) from a Havanese rescue 7 years ago. Dulci was born into a puppy mill and she, her mother and her tiny new puppy along with 23+ Havanese were rescued when Dulci was only 10 months old. She was found nursing her only surviving puppy. Dulci is now 8 years old. A very timid frightened sweet puppy herself, with enough love and tender patient care Dulci grew to rescue me right back. You see, it’s true what they say that when you rescue a dog, they rescue right back.  I have a medical condition that Dulci learned to alert me of almost intuitively.  I looked into getting her certified and she passed her training with flying colors. Not only does she help me, but she has helped others by alerting them of a medical condition that averted a crisis. This was not from further training but her own innate abilities.  Dulci is a very special dog and started feeling unwell several months ago. She has since been diagnosed with Cushings disease and it is controlled with special supplements as well as IBD and has more supplements and an expensive diet she must follow to control that. Then at a simple follow up appointment it was discovered that she had a growth in her hind leg. A needle biopsy proved it to be a mast cell tumor and malignant. She was put on some medication while we waited for surgery that was scheduled for several weeks later. Dulci however decided not to wait and proceeded to chew it off! We took her back and they said they would retest to make sure that the cancer was gone after the site healed.  Unfortunately she did not get all the cancer cells and now has to have a special surgery with a special surgeon and may need skin grafts to complete the surgery successfully and get all cancer. My husband and I are semi retired and have a small business that has been failing since the  Covid 19 pandemic hit. We are on a fixed income and also support our daughter who is in school. To say that Dulci is part of the family is an understatement. She is literally my life line. I will do whatever it takes to help her live a healthy painfree life. Unfortunately we really don’t have the means to pay for this surgery which is going to cost upwards of $2800. We’ve been through some very tough times financially and have never asked for help and it pains me to do so now. Saving Dulci is saving two lives, hers and mine.  If you have a little spare change, any donation would be greatly appreciated.  Your prayers are priceless to us too if that is what you can give.
