Hello everyone, as many of you know Julie Mathews has been battling an ultra rare sarcoma called extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma since March of 2019. Since the very beginning it has been a crazy battle, with Julie having having surgery to her cervical spine to proton radiation to hopefully stop this thing and then find out that the worst chemo you can get and radiation that the cancer they first thought she had was not and was this EMC. Through the years she went through radiation to brain mets, radiation to her whole cervical spine, other spots down her spine, to soon surgery to her right occipital lobe. While doing multiple different clinical trials, trying different targeted treatments including immunotherapy in hopes to keep this thing at bay. Julie found out back in 2024 that the cancer had spread to her left jugular down into her heart, at her pancreas in multiple spots. She got treated with radiation for these, and about 3 months later she was back again for more radiation to her whole pelvis as she was trouble walking. She has traveled to MD Anderson for more options where she had none at times here in Florida. She traveled back and forth till Julie could not do so no more. Her last trip to Houston at MDA was back in September and ending up staying for a month as there was growth in her brain so bad the it caused a midline shift in her brain, they wanted to do surgery but her blood levels wouldn't allow her to have so radiation was done again now to her base of her skull and left occipital lobe. We came back home in October long enough to see Tyson's homecoming week, but was short lived as Julie end in the hospital with severe pneumonia that almost killed. Since this time Aaron Mathews her Husband has had to be out of work to be at her side 24/7 to help her as she recovers from the pneumonia damage and now the complete loss of function of her right arm on top of her paralyzed left arm and damaged pelvis from the cancer that was in it. She in fully bed bound and her husband has to help feed her, clean her and just about everything that you would need your hands for as she can't used them. She is currently in Clearwater right now getting radiation to her first right rib that has a cancer spot pressing against the brachial plexus nerves that controls her right arm function in hopes to get at least partial function back. Aaron her husband will continue to be out of work for the unseeable future. During this time Julie and her husband will be traveling for her treatments to Clearwater and Tampa. They also have they're son Tyson graduating this May, he has many senior events he is going to and doing between band and his ending senior events that they have to figure out how to pay for. Tyson is also going to Lake Sumter college in August as well.. If there is anything that you can do to help this family financially that would be greatly appreciated and help with the burden of rent, utilities and medical expenses.
