Help Legendary Nichelle Nichols Recover from Tragic Elder Abuse Perpetrated by Gilbert Bell. Please join the Nichols Family and Me in supporting Nichelle. -Marian Nichols Smothers, Sister of Nichelle Nichols Nichelle Nichols, the iconic African American actress, performer and space activistis best known and loved as ‘Lt. Uhura’ on the original Star Trek television series. As the first black woman in a non-traditional role on TV, her beauty, intelligence, and moxie inspired millions of women, especially women of color, in their aspirations, education, and vision for the future. From the late 1970s Nichelle’s relations with NASA included recruiting many astronaut candidates for the Space Shuttle program. Many of her recruits were women or members of racial and ethnic minorities including Mae Jemison, Sally Ride, and Ronald McNair, just to name a few. I am Marian Smothers, her younger sister, and on behalf of Nichelle’s siblings - our sister, Diane Robinson, older brother Samuel Nichols, and all our relations - we are seeking your support for our beloved Nichelle. Sisters Marian Smothers & Nichelle Please read the Lawsuit filed against Gilbert Bell by my Nephew and Nichelle’s Son Kyle http://uhura.com/nts/gb_19STCV23804_cross_complaint.pdf Elder Abuse is a Widespread Issue. According to the National Council on Aging, more than ten percent of those over 60 fall victim to elder abuse. Financial exploitation is one of the many ways in which seniors are taken advantage of by the people they trust. Sadly, many well-known celebrities, including Rosa Parks, Stan Lee, Mickey Rooney, and Casey Kasem reportedly suffered elder abuse in their later years. Unfortunately, this has also happened to Nichelle. What Really Occurred? Nichelle has always been very independent, living life on her own terms. She has enjoyed a successful career in the public eye – acting on television and in films, performing live, and making personal appearances at fan conventions. In 2010, she first encountered Gilbert Bell. He said he was a producer and that he was developing a feature film in which he hoped to have Nichelle co-star as well as be a 50-50 partner in the enterprise and its profits. Slowly, deliberately, and methodically, Bell insinuated himself into her life. He convinced her to allow him to move into the second house on her property adjacent to her residence as they worked on the project that never happened. Mr Bell lived in the house under a fraudulent lease essentially paying nothing while compelling Nichelle to pay all his utilities. This cost Nichelle over $500,000 in rent she could have made plus the utilities Bell paid out of her checking account. In 2013, Nichelle was in a very weakened state following a hospitalization. Knowing that her immediate family members mostly lived outside of California, Bell took advantage of the situation to obtain her signature on medical and general Powers of Attorney. Over time, as he continued to gain influence, fees from her many personal appearances, and even her pension and Social Security, began to disappear. He later deeded her personal residence into his name, which was the final act that triggered the Petition for Conservatorship eventually granted to her son, Kyle Johnson. At this point Nichelle was penniless and the Bank was floating $10,000 in bad checks. Bell had drained all of her money!!! We believe that Bell has taken financial advantage of Nichelle thru theft and other damages that exceed $1.5 Million.

Her Only Child, Kyle Johnson, is Nichelle’s Conservator and Fulltime Caregiver. Son, Kyle, with Nichelle and George Takei In August of 2018, our nephew Kyle, who has lived with his wife in New Mexico since the 1990s, returned to Los Angeles to be Nichelle’s fulltime caregiver and subsequently, Conservator of her Person and Estate. But so much of the major damage had already been done. Since then, Gilbert Bell has done the only thing left for him to do – he has slandered Kyle’s good name in numerous publications. He recorded a staged encounter with him, Nichelle, and Kyle, releasing the video to media outlets and the LAPD, and filed suit demanding the continued fraudulent possession of her adjacent property under onerous terms. How Can You Help? As a fan and admirer of Nichelle, we ask for your support by donating towards the accumulated and ongoing legal fees to defend her and ensure the continuing conservatorship by her son, Kyle. These funds are necessary for defending Nichelle from Gilbert Bell’s baseless but damaging suit, our counter-suit and associated expenses of discovery, trial, etc, and to recover all or some of what he has stolen and mitigate the damage he has inflicted upon her.

We appeal to your generosity and appreciate your support in any amount. Please share this on your Facebook, Twitter, and other social media accounts. If you would consider more active participation, please contact us. Click below to read the civil suit against Gilbert Bell for Elder Abuse:

Nichelle Nichols, Shields Up!

I am Dior Edmonds, and Dominique Rem'mie" Fells was my oldest sister out of 3 of us. She also leaves behind our mother Terri Edmonds and our father Keith Edmonds. We are from York Pa. and all funds raised will go towards funeral costs for remembering her. Dominique was a black Transwoman brutally murdered and discarded in a river in Philidelphia Pa. Our family is in mourning and in utter disbelief that something like this could happen to one of our own. Dominique who often went by the name Rem'mie was truly one of a kind. We can Assure all of you that we will not stop until her killers are found and justice is served accordingly. Thank you for your kind donations and for helping us get through this trying time.
THIS IS THE ONLY GO FUNDME CAMPAIGN FOR DOMINIQUE!!!

Dominique "Rem'mie" Fells Funeral Costs

This fund was started for a small community of Black Trans women living on the streets of Atlanta, many of whom are also sex workers. We now are not only able to help this community, but this project has grown into a unique opportunity to alleviate the chronic homelessness that exists among Trans people in Atlanta, especially among Black & brown Trans people. Who I Am My name is Jesse Pratt López. I am a Trans Latina from Colombia who calls Atlanta home. I use my experiences as a documentary photographer and grassroots activist to help folks from my community use their voices to resist systems of oppression and step into their own power. You can check out my photography at www.jprattlopez .photos. Where We Started I started this fund in mid-December 2019 to help a small group of Trans sisters I had met through ReVon Michaels, the “bougie queen” as she likes to call herself. ReVon is a Sagittarius with a huge smile and laugh, and an even bigger appetite. I first met her when she was strutting down the sidewalk in front of a Publix in downtown Atlanta. She was wrapped in a large blanket; her wig haphazardly placed upon her head and her curls as big as her smile. She asked if I could spare some change. I was about to tell her no, I don’t carry cash and I’m broke. But when I took a closer look, I realized at that moment that I was seeing my sister. My Trans sister. One of the Gurlz. A T-Slur as they like to call us on PornHub.com or right before they violate us. I told her that she looked beautiful and that I would be right back with some cash and a sandwich. When I returned she was so happy to see me. I asked her if I could take her picture. I would come back every couple of days to visit ReVon, or she would come to my house. We hung out, shared food, and she introduced me to the other girls who live and work on the Hoe Stroll – Piedmont Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia. I began a photo project to document the everyday lives of these Black Trans women: mundane, ugly, beautiful. Society has abandoned and discarded these girls. But their strength lies not in their struggles; it is in their survival in the face of adversity and their existence in the face of oppression. While creating this body of work, I walked the stroll with them, not only in order to walk in their shoes, but also because as a Trans woman myself, I realized this: while the rest of the world wants us not to exist, we are here, we have always been here, and we’re not going anywhere. ReVon calls me momma. I call her daughter. And sometimes the roles are reversed. In the Trans community, we are each other’s elders because many of us don’t have anyone to support us. Since we met, I have become really close with ReVon — and the circle of my chosen family has become a little bit bigger. The Fund: Where It Began and Where It’s Going Once we became close, ReVon and the girls would share stories about the violence they experienced on the streets of Atlanta: getting raped, robbed, shot, and almost killed. Survival sex work has historically been the only profession that many Trans women have been able to succeed in. Many girls, especially when they don’t pass for society’s ideal archetype of what a woman should be, are denied jobs, housing, and other opportunities. Through my photography and presence in the Atlanta queer and trans arts and organizing scene, I saw a chance to get the girls the support and resources they needed. After initially raising $10,000 through this fund, I was able to secure them temporary housing through the winter holidays and assist with getting them necessities such as food, cell phones, clothes, and spending money. Eventually, I was also able to connect some of the girls to Jayme Stegar, the Lead Trans Outreach Specialist at Someone Cares Atlanta Jayme was able to assist in finding two of the girls a room in a rooming house led by Trans people. She has also been instrumental in connecting the girls to STI (sexually-transmitted infections) testing services and ensuring that they have the support to manage their immediate needs. Unfortunately, by April 2020, we had run out of funds, at a time where the need was more pressing than ever in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through contributions from so many generous people, we were able to raise an additional $10,000. Shortly after meeting this second goal, as uprisings ignited across the country to protest the murder and injustice faced by Black lives, this campaign received a resurgence of support. With over 70,000 donors, we have been able to raise $2 million and the fund continues to grow. With this renewed support, it became clear that we can achieve positive, sustainable, and permanent changes for the larger community of Black & Brown Trans women in Atlanta. To that end, I have surrounded myself with local Trans-led organizations such as Solutions Not Punishment Collaborative , Southern Fried Queer Pride and the Trans Atlanta Housing Program , as well as service providers such as Someone Cares Atlanta , to begin working on a plan composed of smart goals for this transformed project. Further, I’ve been talking with the girls about their hopes for the future: what they need to build a stable foundation and what is now possible thanks to your support. With guidance and assistance from these organizations, I am working towards establishing a project guided by the Pathways Housing First model , based on the idea that “nothing in any person’s history or present precludes them from being able to be housed.” I have benefited greatly from the wise and kind input of Dr. Sam Tsemberis, the founder of Pathways to Housing in New York and originator of the Housing First model. Whether this project looks like funding for existing Trans-led providers or the creation of a new organization is yet to be determined. Our goal is and always will be to establish permanent housing in Atlanta for Trans people, particularly Black Trans women who are experiencing chronic homelessness and to ensure they have the wraparound services necessary to thrive. If you want to support this, you can also donate directly to me, and avoid the GoFundMe transaction fee: Cashapp: $jplopez22 Venmo: @PaegeTurner (last 4 #s: 6509) PP: jprattlopez@/gmail.com We will keep y’all posted here on what happens in the coming weeks and months & appreciate your contribution to this movement. #BlackTransLivesMatter.

Othello is our 2 year old cat who has a blocked bladder causing him a lot of pain and can kill him within the next few days. We took him to the animal hospital yesterday for just over $1000 to flush the blockage but his bladder has blocked up once again and the surgery to fully remove it can cost anywhere from $3000-3600. We are asking that anyone who feels comfortable donates, and anyone else please feel free to share this campaign so others may find it. I love you and appreciate you, thanks. Andrew

Freya is fearless. She is also funny, thoughtful, feisty, and kind. And right now she is very very sick. Freya has a strep infection in her blood, which is quite serious. We're looking to raise $7500 to help offset her parent's lost income and her medical bills. On Friday Nov. 15, it looked like it was a regular kid sickness. Her dad Kevin stayed home to take care of her. On Sunday, it was clear this was Not a Regular Sickness, and her parents took her to the hospital. On Monday, her mom Danielle sat by her bedside while Kevin took her big brother Seb to school. Then her parents traded off through out the day. All day. And all night. All week. Danielle has missed work, Kevin has missed work, and the tests and procedures keep coming: Nov 17: "They have her sedated and on IV antibiotics; still some oddities they're investigating, but the support team seems positive." Nov 18: "She's greatly improved, but there are still some things they team wants to investigate." Nov 19: "Fever spike and elevated heart rate mean another blood panel and another night in ICU. She also took some kidney damage from the sepsis so they're monitoring that too. She's full of spite and fire though, so that's good." Nov 20: "Rough night on the Freya front: they had to put her on oxygen for a bit as she seems to have a viral lung infection in addition to everything else. *sigh* Her spirit level: Fighty! Breakfast: Chocolate chip muffin." Nov 21: "So, a fever presented when they took her off Tylenol so no PICC line, but a different IV. She's going to need to be on an antibiotic protocol for two weeks. Some concern about fluid retention in one leg. *sigh* She's super-brave." Folks, Freya is a fighter, and right now she's fighting sepsis. Let's be the ones who help. Let's give the Petker family a little breathing room and let them focus on taking care of her and each other. Please donate, please share this page, and thank you.

Freya Petker vs. The Sepsis Infection

I was a recent victim of fraud. I've already contacted the police and the bank about this, but am freaking out since I'm not being given help. The person gained access to my BECU account, deposited fraudulent checks then withdrew them in cash that bounced. I've never used gofundme before, but I've been panicking and don't know how else to fix this situation. I've only just found a new job after a few months of job hunting and experiencing unemployment and I deal with mental health issues as it is. Prior to this I finally pulled myself out of a really dark place and with this robbery hanging over me now so don't know what to do.

I tried contacting the people involved in the fraud check thinking they were also scammed and taken advantage of, but discovered it was the same people who exploited me. They've since been calling me over and over, using burner accounts to change phone numbers and were calling me up to 3am to try to threaten me into giving them money to leave me alone. The police aren't filing a report and the bank can't do anything until the police make an official report which the cops refuse to do because they think the threats "haven't escalated enough".

I'm an lgbtq low income person dealing with health issues, rent, and groceries I'm also attempting to pay for. Thank you for reading. Pic is my cat because I feel really anxious about attaching my photo to this.

On Easter morning 3-year-old Arjuna Zender lost mobility on the left side of his body. He was brought to the emergency room in Marquette, Michigan and then subsequently flown to Ann Arbor Hospital to have specialized tests and brain surgery. Arjuna is the 3-year-old son of Ian Zender (Third Coast Builders) and Alexandra Kravola (Sakra Clothing) of Marquette, Michigan. In the days preceding his medical emergency, Arjuna had been complaining of headaches, sleeping a lot and wasn't his usual rambunctious self. Arjuna had the flu in the previous week and the doctor thought he was dehydrated. The family woke up Easter morning to find that Arjuna couldn't move one side of his body which led to an emergency room visit. He was given an MRI at Marquette General Hospital that showed bleeding in his brain. Subsequently, Arjuna was flown to CS Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Ian drove down to join the family at the hospital. Arjuna has since regained mobility in the left side of his body. He then started to have seizures due to the large amount of blood and pressure in his brain and was taken into surgery on Saturday, April 27th. He has come out of surgery, is recovery well and his parents should hopefully have more information soon on the cause of his medical emergency. They will have follow-up appointments in Ann Arbor in the coming weeks to make sure there is no more bleeding. We feel very optimistic about the future for Arjuna, but with any unexpected medical emergencies, there are unplanned for expenses. Expenses include travel to and from Ann Arbor (340mi one way), hotel stays meals away from home. In addition to direct expenses, there is a loss of income for the parents being away from work. Also, potential unknown medical expenses not covered by insurance. We appreciate your help raising funds for the Zender-Kravola family for travel, lodging, loss of income and future expenses related to Arjuna's medical emergency.

Hello. I am Milton Knight. I have been a professional cartoonist since 1980, and have done some things you might have seen. My comics and cartoons have been in HEAVY METAL, NATIONAL LAMPOON, greeting cards and record covers. I have worked on projects based on well known characters like NINJA TURTLES and MIGHTY MOUSE. My independent comics include HUGO and MIDNITE THE REBEL SKUNK. I conceived the characterization of the villain Robotnik on the ADVENTURES OF SONIC THE HEDGEHOG series and I directed four cartoon shorts for the TWISTED TALES OF FELIX series on CBS. I had a serious nervous breakdown in 1996, and was down and out for two years. By then, the animation profession had changed a lot and it was if I had never been in it. I have survived in meager fashion up to today. I am being suddenly evicted from my home for seven years for reasons still suspect to me and those close to me. I have initiated investigation, but there is no doubt that however it turns out, I will have to leave within their 60 day deadline. I am in need of funds for moving, storage and relocation, as well as legal funding if I decide to go that far. MILTON KNIGHT: AN ARTIST SURVIVES

Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you may know around eight Years ago dad (retired teacher Neftali Polanco) was diagnosed with a terminal kidney disease. According to the nephrologist, a kidney transplant is the recommended treatment for patients with end stage kidney disease. It has been recommended that a living donor transplant is the best-case scenario to continue living a healthy life. At this point in his life, We are hoping to move towards a transplant while physicians and transplant team feel that He is still medically suitable to undergo the procedure.

After six years plus on dialysis waiting for a kidney transplant ... A couple of weeks ago in our last appointment at the Tampa General Hospital we received the great news that the kidney transplant surgery will take place at any moment now and that we must be practically on-call 24/7 and ready physically, mentally, emotionally, in this exiting but nail biting journey.

During this process there are different stages. Some covered mainly by the insurance, others will be all private out of pocket expenses. Once the call comes in... he would then have to immediately travel within hours to Tampa for his transplant and the journey would have begun. After surgery he will remain around one week at the hospital, but he will have to remain in Tampa an extra Month for special treatment on his new kidney etc, etc and most of this process is not covered by any insurance.

We have estimated in co-pay’s alone at almost $15K and the out of pocket expenses may reach or even surpass the $10K mark... Making the overall ball park figure of around 25K.

This are the bare bones genetics of this long and anticipated surgery to keep my dad alive a little longer God willing.

I am writing this letter to express that we have opened a GO FUND ME page to help cover the co-pay expenses that reaches thousands of dollars and all the miscellaneous and out of pocket expenses during this difficult process.

Our expectations are high as we have known a great and mighty GOD that will move mountains to help his children.

So feel free to make a donation of any amount. We will be eternally great full.

Any information needed by anyone who desires to make a donation, we can provide, including hospital transplant papers. GBY all.

Sincerely,
Jose A.

URGENT: Kidney Transplant Funds

Pic is of a fern that I found, my family actually uses the internet and I think it'll be pretty obvious here in a minute why I want to remain as anonymous as possible. Update 29 March: Original goal met and exceeded! Eval scheduled for April 10th! Got fired because of this bs, more on that in the update section, so upped the goal from the original $14k to compensate;;; I was planning to work right up until I bugged out and budgeted for that;;; Update 12 March: Legal fees are all going to be covered and I have a lawyer, fully pro-bono- IF I can get the eval in time! One of my uncles is a lawyer, and is helping my mother through the process of having me declared mentally incompetent so that she can force me into "Reparative Therapy", which is literally just rebranded conversion therapy. The initial petition has been filed. I don't have a court date yet, but two months from now is a good estimate. While getting me into conversion therapy is the main point of all of this, she will have full control over my health care, finances, and where I live. It is almost impossible for the ward to contest guardianship at any point afterwards because they cannot legally enter into contracts with anyone. I need to get proof of competency for my laywer to work with and get out of this house ASAP or I'm screwed in a big way. As this has been asked about a few times: all donations are being deposited in an account managed by my late fiance's brother, so if we don't raise enough for the eval on time, the funds will still be used to contest the initial judgement on my behalf. My mother will never be able to touch any of it. Yes, I am asking for a large amount of money! There's good reason for it, though. A full psychological evaluation runs about $6000 in my area. That’ll be out of pocket entirely. This is a REQUIREMENT. I have to have this and the testimony from an expert- and hoo boy that isn’t exactly cheap right there either, google says $500ish an hour- to combat the falsified one and false testimony from the people my mother will be bribing or whatever she’s doing. That’ll basically bring it to a stalemate. That could get real messy real fast [and it SHOULD] because it’s basically he-said-she-said and having to dig around on both sides and it’ll end up all dragged out and protracted and nasty. Moving will place the odds much more firmly in my favor. That’s proof I can live independently, proof I can function adequately without supervision without harming myself, proof that I can handle working & supporting myself without an overseer micromanaging things for me. That wouldn’t hold it’s own against a fake eval, but paired with a legitimate eval, both giving each other credence, it will enough, 100% guarantee there. The cost to moving, though? Places that’ll let me bring my dogs will run high. Going for a rental, figure around $3k for first & last month’s rent. Pet deposits can range from anywhere from $50 to $500 each. Gotta move all my stuff [and the brats have more than I do, they’re spoiled as all hell], it’ll fit in a van or truck- without the dogs in it, so that means a van or truck with a trailor OR two separate vehicles. I was advised that a minimum of ten hours’ drive out would be sufficient, but further is ideal. Let’s stick to ten hours, and then I’m gonna knock that down to 9.5 because that’s what I got it to on google maps and I’m stressed and not willing to dig for an exact ten- that’s 652 miles. Let’s assume one vehicle with a trailer, probably 20 miles to the gallon towing like that? So 652 miles by 20 mpg is 32.6 gallons, at $2.90 per that’s $95 just for gas? That doesn’t include renting the vehicle and/or trailer, and really, for safety purposes I should probably be using a moving company- no one in the family will make a scene with the movers in that scenario, that’s the wrong kind of scene to raise [because pulling this shit makes SO much more sense, right?]. That’d probably run around a grand right there, and I’d still need to get me & the dogs to wherever. And then there’s all the immediately required stuff like getting the puppers registered, and an accurate ID for me, and food & utilities for a month or two until I can snag literally any job until I scrape up enough to get my business license and all that for the new location. I can live off $20 a month for food, but the dogs go through closer to $50 a month on the cheapest stuff I can find without risking their health. Utilities shouldn’t be much, less than $150 for sure [because I’ll be on hard conservation mode even while cleaning & settling in because everything is expensive!!!]. That’s over $500 right there, potentially closer to $700 depending on how much it will be to get the boys registered. In the event there does turn out to be excess after all of this is over, it will be donated to the Family Acceptance Project, an initiative that helps educate parents & other family members so they don't reject, ostracize, or send their own kids to conversion therapy like my mother is doing.
