Hello my name is Destiny. Myself , my husband Shawn and their 6 kids were the lastest “ICE” victims. They were innocent bystanders driving through what should have been a peaceful protest when things took a turn ICE began to start throwing tear gas bombs everywhere we were trying so hard to get out the way but didn’t want to harm anybody with our car in the process. One of the bombs rolled under our truck and within seconds our truck lifted up off the ground and the airbags deployed, the car doors locked themselves and the car began to fill with the powerful tear gas. We fought hard to get the doors open and get all of the kids out, bystanders had to help.

Once all of the kids were out we realized our infant wasn’t breathing. with what little breath I had in my body I began giving my baby mouth to mouth and performing CPR. He eventually regained consciousness. EMS arrived shortly after to assist

This experience was very traumatizing never in a million years would I have thought something like this would happen to me and my family.

We are very appreciative to all of the people who helped us get out of that car and into a house safely. Thank You Thank You.

Myself & my husband will be out of work for a while to tend to our kids to help them get through such a traumatizing experience. Also because we lost our car we have no way to get kids back and fourth to daycare/ school or no way to get to work. We are asking our community to help us out in any way shape or form so that we are able to keep providing for our kids during this time. Thank you all

Support the Jackson Family After ICE Incident

Hello friends,

I'm Jeff Manteiga/Rolderathis from the Toilet ov Hell metal blog. One of our community members, Dan (or as you probably know him through Discord, Hazy/HazyHex) needs our help. 8 years ago, Dan was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma which was subsequently treated with first line chemotherapy; he successfully entered into remission.

Enter 2025, and after a half year of dealing with vague health issues that progressively became more severe, he was yet again diagnosed with an extremely late relapse of his cancer, staged the same. He is currently in the midst of a short term salvage chemotherapy regimen designed to get his cancer regressed enough for the next step in the process, which is stem cell transplantion. He will be hospitalized for 3 weeks to a month for this procedure, and afterwards per discussions with the transplant specialists will be out of work for at least 3 months, but potentially up to a year. The process destroys your bone marrow with very high dose chemotherapy and then you are infused with stem cells to rebuild your body and immune system.

Obviously, this diagnosis on top of our country's broken healthcare system will quickly become prohibitively expensive, and that's before the months/year of work Dan will miss. He is one of the kindest folks I could ever hope to call a friend, and I hope you'll join me in easing the financial burden he will face atop this unthinkable battle.

Love,

Hey Everybody!

Our friend, Jon, was admitted to the hospital for blood clots in his legs and lungs. We all feel lucky that Jon went in when he did because the outcome could have been different.

As some of you know, Jon decided to take a chance after his last job laid him off to go full time into making GenXGrownUp the channel he always wanted. But that came with risks, no guaranteed income and most importantly, no health insurance.

We all know what a blow even one hospital visit can be financially. That's why we are setting up this page to show support for Jon.

Every dollar you can spare is one less that Jon has to worry about.

Thank you so much for helping!

Jon has been doing a running vlog since he started working on GenXGrownUp full time. He even took the time to do one from his hospital bed!

Hello all, this is Jeff Manteiga/Rolderathis from Toilet ov Hell. You may know Ken Michaud, AKA Kenstrosity, AKA SpongePal as the extremely good boy whose words have helped many enjoy of deep metal reviews over at Angry Metal Guy. Recently, his apartment was decimated during Hurricane Helene's path through Asheville, North Carolina. I've known Ken through our Discord community for years, and he is one of the kindest people you'll ever meet. I've set up this fundraiser to help assuage the trauma of sudden homelessness and help Ken get back on his feet. We love you, Sponge!

Help Ken Michaud Rebuild After Hurricane Helene

My world has been irreparably changed for the worse with the sudden passing of my wonderful mom, Theresa Ann. She died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. We are absolutely gutted and heartbroken beyond words can express. Unfortunately the worst day of my life got even worse on Wednesday night, when my 8 year old Great Pyrenees, Jackson, started crying out in pain. He was panting, dry heaving, and couldn't get comfortable. Once I recognized these bloat symptoms I immediately took him to the closest open emergency vet. They took x-rays and confirmed my fears, Jackson has bloat and his stomach was twisted. They said his prognosis wasn't great but that they could help me get in touch with an emergency vet clinic that could do his surgery asap. The thought of losing my oldest fur baby, my first child, my big polar bear boy, on the same day as my mother, was just too much. I told them we're doing this, no matter the cost and we loaded him back up in the car to be transported to VSS West. The first vet visit was $670 for fluids, x-rays, diagnosis, etc. Thankfully Frenchie was driving so I was able to lay down in the back seat and hold Jackson as he cried over every bump and turn. His gums were pale, his breathing shakey, and his eyes lost. But he leaned into me and put his paw on my arm, comforting me while I comforted him. We got to VSS and helped load him on a gurney. The vet looked at him and then discussed his prognosis with us. She said his case is considered moderate (3.4/5) and gave him about a 50/50 chance. Then she let us know his surgery would cost about $3,500 and that they require half as a deposit. With holiday expenses and everything else going on, we are in desperate need for help. I've applied for a Care Credit but that only covers a small portion of the total. So please, help us if you can. All I want to do is grieve my mom and be there for my pup without worrying about how I'm going to pay for all of this. He is still in surgery as of writing this and I will update as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your love and kindness during this truly awful time.

Please help us save Jackson!

Hello everyone,I'm Rebecca,My rescue squirrel Frankie has cancer,I've had him since he was a few days old,he is over 6 years old now.He is still young.Last year he had what I thought was a cold, which turned out to be pneumonia,he got treatment and seemed to do better

I took him back for a check-up and x-rays showed it was cancer in his two top teeth and nasal cavity, its blocking over 90 percent of his airway. They gave him a month to maybe a year to live without surgery, depending on how fast it grows. He is on his 4th vet trying to get it removed.I talked to a squirrel specialist in north Carolina for surgery. It is a 40 hour drive across the United States.Ive already spent at least 2 thousand for vet visits and traveling to hopefully get it removed.I don't want to give up on him,you wouldn't even know anything was wrong with him until he wheezes. The donations will pay the travel expenses and surgery. We need to stay in that state for at least two weeks to get rechecked and make sure there's no complications. If we have to live in a car or camp out, then we will,as long as Frankie can breathe again. He is the sweetest little guy,he just wants to be held and loved.Anything helps, and if it's not all used I will donate the rest to help other squirrels like Frankie.Thank you for your help.❤

With profound sadness, I’m announcing that my brother Justin Dale Bartlett passed away peacefully in his sleep during the early morning hours of 1/9/23 after his epic 2-year battle with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. He was only 45. Justin spent the previous days surrounded by his loved ones.

Justin and I shared laughs, memories, and cuddles just a couple hours before he passed away. I will forever cherish those last private moments with him.

Justin never, EVER gave up. He fought this until the end.

All new donations are going toward taking the financial stress off me and my family while we make funeral arrangements, look after his kitty Dio, and manage some of his unpaid medical bills.

My sincerest gratitude goes out to everyone who has supported Justin over the years either by sharing his art, buying his art, creating fundraisers for him, and donating.

(Previous fundraiser)

From Justin’s Sister (Fundraiser Organizer):

As I dropped him off at his Oncology appointment, I looked at my brother and I said, “Justin, this sucks so much.” With pain and exhaustion in his eyes, he replied, “And... this is just the beginning.” Shortly after that conversation, it was confirmed that my brother, Justin Bartlett, has Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer. We had our suspicions based on his symptoms, and the cryptic scan results that had been sent home with him from his latest Emergency Room stay. Since then he's already had three surgeries, and is due to start chemotherapy soon.

Justin is one of my best friends. He’s funny, intelligent, generous, and extremely talented. He has his own business working as a graphic designer & gallery artist -- most famously in the heavy metal music genre. If you’re a metal fan, you’ve seen his album cover work, merchandise, and intricate designs. He’s got a LONG road ahead of him, and needs help with medical and living expenses because he's too exhausted and in pain to work.

From Justin’s Parents:

As we sit here thinking about what to write, the old adage, "Man plans and God laughs" keeps looping through our minds.

From a very early age we were sure our bright, inquisitive, creative, articulate little ginger was going to be a field biologist, environmentalist, or scientist. He had a wicked eye for small details. He had a desire to take things apart to figure out how they worked and to come up with even better ways to do things. He had a keen mind for science and nature... and an uncanny ability to artistically document what he observed around him. Skip ahead to the present and there was nowhere in our plans that Justin would venture into the dark world of heavy metal and emerge as the black ink wizard/illustrator... world-renowned for his exquisitely DETAILED drawings of mayhem and carnage! NOT the plan we had for him but so be it. We came to truly appreciate his gnarly designs and are proud of the recognition it's brought him.

And now, to learn that our strong, healthy, physically active son has metastatic Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer feels like a horse kicked us in the gut. My husband and I are deeply stunned (especially since almost 2 years ago my husband Jack received his own diagnosis of a rare blood/bone marrow cancer!) We know that Justin has a long, painful journey ahead and we will do all that we can to help him. We know from our own experience navigating this cancer road, there will be many more trips to the doctor's office, months of exhausting treatments, more hospital and ER stays where unfortunately we can't even go with him because of all this Covid Crap! Definitely NOT THE LIFE we had envisioned for him.

We are grateful for the support, love and care our family members and close friends have shown so far. And we feel fortunate Justin will be in the hands of the very skilled healthcare professionals of the Moore's Cancer Center at UCSD La Jolla. We are relieved he has good healthcare coverage but we know it will NOT cover all of his medications and multiple trips to the hospital and doctors' offices for treatment. And we witness daily the unrelenting pain our son endures from the insidious disease which has ravaged his once strong body and makes it nearly impossible to financially support himself through his graphic designs and illustrations...at least for many months to come. NOT AT ALL THE PLAN WE HAD FOR HIM!

From Justin’s Girlfriend:

Justin is one of the strongest people I know. I can't even describe what it's like to watch the person you love be in incredible pain, and to be helpless in making them feel better.

Even though this is an advanced stage of cancer, the doctor is very optimistic as there are a lot of treatments available to try, and there are new treatments being discovered every year. As Justin is young and otherwise healthy, we are very hopeful about the future. In the coming months, the most important thing is that Justin is solely focused on his treatments and getting healthy which is why we're asking for your help as he is self-employed.

Justin has been bravely facing the challenges ahead of him. In the prime of his life, the plans we had for starting a family and the dreams for our future together are temporarily on hold. This unexpected detour is now a part of our journey together. As we travel down this new path, we are very thankful for the love and support people have shown.

From Justin’s Bro-in-Law/Friend:

Justin is my favorite person to go explore the back country of San Diego County with. The most fun part of spending time outdoors with Justin is his vast knowledge of the creatures we encounter. He showed me a blue belly lizard doing pushups, and explained that it was a mating ritual. Every time I see one of those lizards doing pushups and giving me “side eye” I think of Justin. During a 7-mile hike at Blue Sky Preserve in December, Justin complained a little bit about his back hurting, but he still kicked my ass going up to Lake Ramona.. little did we know how sick he was at the time.

He is now in a great deal of pain and has to be rushed to the Emergency Room every few days. In spite of how well he takes care of himself, cancer still took over his life and body in a matter of months. Justin has a love for life and plans for his future. If anyone can overcome Stage 4 cancer, it’s going to be Justin. During treatments, the last thing Justin should worry about is his finances. He can’t work, he can’t make art — all he can do is fight for his life.

New books help to keep the store running and their stock might be the most
comprehensive found anywhere, including a wide selection of used books. Daniel Hill (singer of Cross Examination and Riverfront Times' Music Editor) got HIT BY A CAR AT 30MPH while on his moped. As he was wearing a helmet but not an entire suit of armor, his injuries required him to spend FIVE DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL. His hip is broken with dislocation, requiring him to not only miss work, but his angelic partner to do so as well while she takes care of him and presumably defends him from Ted Nugent fans who can sense his vulnerability.

The eventual goal is to get Daniel an exo-suit like the one in ALIENS (or some sort of futuristic, spider-like command console like Mojo from the X-Men comics), but for now, we should try and help the dude simply live and prepare with the economic reality of spending FIVE DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL.

Then there's the matter of physical therapy and recovery equipment - it ain't cheap, folks. We're starting this at $7,500 because honestly, trying to raise the money it will actually cost is too depressing. No word on anything from a legal (or insurance) standpoint, but you know that won't happen quickly.

If you know Daniel, you know he's one of the most supportive and genuinely decent people out there. If anyone who is reading this knows me, Drew Ailes, Daniel is not only the reason that anything I've ever written got the huge audience that it did, but the reason it was also probably readable.

Please chip in literally anything you can and share this fundraiser page with an inflammatory caption that gets people to argue with you so we can maximize the visibility on this sucker.

This is Balam’s mom Phaedra.
A little over one year ago, I began posting pictures and videos of my beloved cats to share them with the world. Thanks to the love and attention of people all across the world, this page has evolved into much more than I could have dreamed possible, giving me a platform to shine a light on the plight of neglected animals in Mexico and tap into the generosity of my fellow animal-lovers and conservationists. Last month I was able to bring two expert veterinary specialists to Mexico who performed sterilisations and examinations. The experience was a huge success and inspired me to continue to work on behalf of endangered and neglected animals worldwide.

That’s why I have been invited to travel to South Africa for the entire month of July to work at Animal Sanctuaries alongside conservationists and wildlife veterinarians. My mission is to raise awareness about the plight of wildcats threatened with facing extinction in addition to offering solutions for their survival.

At Animal Sanctuaries, I will learn first hand from conservation experts just how much is at stake. I will work alongside veterinarians in game reserves to document how and why wildcats are in decline. I will speak to farmers, wildlife rangers, and rehabilitation and rescue centres. I will participate in their important work in any way I can.

I need to raise $7,500 USD to cover my travel costs and expenses. In addition, the money raised here will go to the animal sanctuary where I volunteer to help them pay for veterinary bills and the general upkeep of the animals.

In keeping with the mission of @balam_says, I will use this page to address wildcat conservation and demonstrate how you too can get involved to stop these exquisite animals from disappearing from our planet. I will encourage positive action and use my page for educational purposes. I will offer reports daily from the front lines. In partnership, we can transform this world together.

The UN recently published a very sobering report: 1 million plant and animal species are currently threatened with extinction. ( https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/may/06/human-society-under-urgent-threat-loss-earth-natural-life-un-report ). This applies to all African Mammals, in particular wildcats. Now more than ever before, we need to collectively stand up against senseless destruction of our planet and all her animal beings. Please help me continue to help the voiceless.

Emily is a 22 year old and from Salt Lake City. She went to go see one of her favorite bands at a local venue. Around the middle of the show, Emily was standing on the out side of a mosh pit when a man wearing steel toe boots went to "crowd kill" and round house kicked her in the jaw. She was immediately knocked unconscious and carried out by a friend and strangers. She was taken to the hospital and put into emergency care. Four MRI's were taken and a team of neurologists found that she had brain bleeding along side her broken jaw. After the bleeding stopped and they subdued her pain, they took her in to the Ortho/Trauma ICU. After two more days, she had A 6 hour reconstructive surgery implanting 4 metal plates to reconnect her jaw to he face. After the surgery we found out that her jaw was hit so hard on one side that it broke the other side free from the muscle tissue and the only thing keeping in her face was her skin. She spent a total of 6 days in the ICU and will have 3 month recovery. Her jaw is wired shut for the next two weeks and she will be unable to work. Medical costs will be very high. Any support or donations are greatly appreciated. Also, Emily went to a show to have fun and to support a band she loves. No one should ever leave a show in this condition, no matter what kind of music you are going to support. Have fun out there but please, not in such an inconsiderate and violent way. Please be mindful. My name is karlee, she is my little sister. We live in salt lake with our parents Anne and Tom Hoffman. All of the funds will be going straight to her medical bills

On the evening on December 1st, local musician, Tom Hall, became a victim of the so-called "Knock Out" game after he was brutally attacked by several men. Tom was walking in the Soulard neighborhood around 7pm when he was approached by 4 or 5 men who asked for a cigarette. After he stated he didn't have one, Tom decided to turn and head the other way when one of the men attacked him by punching him in the face and kicking him on the ground. As a result of this brutal beating, Tom has suffered multiple injuries including a broken nose, several loose teeth, and blurry vision.
Tom is a self-employed, local musician who unfortunately does not have health care or receive paid sick leave. Any donations provided will assist Tom in paying his medical bills and recovery by allowing him to take a bit of time off from playing music. Tom has made so many of his own contributions to the community by playing fundraisers and helping those in need. Please help Tom get back in the swing of things so he can continue to share his talents with all of us! Thank you for your contributions!

Thank you everyone, all over the world for your support and donations. We exceeded our goal by just a few dollars and have decided how it will be allocated. We will donate $5,106.47 to the Murrow Indian Children's Home in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The rest of the money will go to Camp Quest Oklahoma. Seeing as how this is my first venture on GoFundMe, I don't know the exact amount that will be going to Camp Quest Oklahoma due to the more than $3,500 in taxes and fees that are being taken out by GoFundMe. All of you have proven that love wins over bigotry. Thank you!

Most people know Jonathan Dick as a music writer, author, and teacher—as a talented, big-hearted person with a tireless work ethic, a way with words, and a soft spot for Rush. He goes above and beyond to support the music he loves, sharing their stories everywhere from Stereogum, Noisey, NPR, and Pitchfork to his own much-loved site, Steel for Brains. He's a stand-up guy, a gentle soul, and a lovable nerd, but to three special people in this world, he is more than that—he's their Daddy. Jonathan's children are his world, his end-all and be-all, and he is a joyously loving, accepting, goofy, and devoted father to Solomon, Elijah, and his youngest, his little warrior princess, Hannah.

Recently Hannah has been dealing with severe medical problems, leading to an extended hospital stay and uncertain future. She has been disgnosed with ciliary dyskinesia, an incurable genetic lung disorder that means that she will have to undergo daily breathing treatments for the rest of her life.

It's also left Jonathan with a mountain of hospital bills. His insurance won't cover all of it, and an Alabama teacher's salary ain't what it used to be. Hannah has further tests to undergo, as well, so the family still has a long road ahead.

With that in mind, I decided to set up this fundraiser for him and his children because, honestly, they deserve it. Hannah deserves to live a long, happy, healthy life, and to take that trip to Disney World that Jonathan's been saving up for. If you've ever read and enjoyed one of Jonathan's articles, bantered with him on Twitter, shared a drink with him in real life, or just want to help this beautiful little girl smile wider, please consider donating a few dollars to this effort. Not every little girl is lucky enough to have a father like Jonathan, and those of us who can count him as a friend are awfully lucky, too.

Many thanks,
Kim Kelly
