<div>Tom Gates has been diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer, which has spread to other areas of his body. The course of treatment includes immunotherapy and targeted radiation.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This GoFundMe campaign is here so Tom can focus on healing, because financial stress should never be a part of someone's cancer journey.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This fundraiser is a way for the many people whose lives Tom has touched with his music and teaching, to support him during this difficult time. Any contribution, or simply sharing this page, is deeply appreciated.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Funds will be used to help with ongoing medical treatments and living expenses.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Together we can make a difference.</strong>

<div><em>Cancer cannot cripple Love, it cannot shatter hope, it cannot break the spirit.</em>

<div>Tom Gates has been a professional performer and teacher for more than 40 years. Tom received his B.A. degree in guitar performance from the University of Miami, where he studied jazz guitar with Pat Metheny, and classical guitar with Juan Mercadal. Tom was a founding member of Walt Richardson and The Morningstar Band, a popular fixture on the Phoenix club and concert scene for many years. Tom formed The World Rhythm Band, and as roster artists with the Arizona Commision On The Arts, performed throughout Arizona, bringing a mixture of education and entertainment - "edutainment" to communities with little access to live performances. Career highlights include performing at the Telluride Jazz Festival, receiving a gold record for his performance on the Beach Boys album "Still Cruisin", and recording his album "Comfort Zone" featuring legendary drummer Steve Gadd.

<div><br />
</div>
<div>Tom performs, records, and teaches in Phoenix, Arizona.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Tom’s teaching philosophy is - Nothing is Difficult, Just Unfamiliar.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With custom-tailored lesson plans based on the student’s musical goals, lessons are presented in notation and TAB, as well as backing tracks for songs. The student has everything necessary for an immersive and engaging practice experience.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Students will:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>• Practice more effectively
</div>
<div>• Play their favorite songs with more understanding and enjoyment
</div>
<div>• Grow their creativity
</div>
<div>• Gain lifelong skills
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This approach has proven effective in thousands of lessons with students of all ages.

Standing with Tom Gates in His Time of Need

<div>Mr. Sonny, our amazing school custodian, lost his home this weekend in an unfortunate house fire. Everyone is okay, but he and his family have a long road ahead of them to recover and make a new home. He lost everything, including his clothes, furniture, and personal belongings, and does not have an insurance plan to cover the cost. He is currently staying with other family members, and he is in need of our help.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Sonny is a dedicated and hardworking member of the Quail Run community. He is always willing to go the extra mile to help our students and staff. He is also a kind and compassionate person, and he is always there for those in need. He knows all the kids' names and enjoys being a part of their lives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are asking you to please consider donating to a fundraiser to help Sonny get back on his feet. Any donation, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate financially, you can still help by spreading the word about the fundraiser by sharing it on your social media.
</div>

</div>
<div>Thank you for your generosity and support.

Help Sonny Restart After His House Fire

<div>My good friend Matt has come to a point in his life to where he needs a new ticker.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On June 29, 2012 Matt was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy/congestive heart failure. He was fitted with a cardiac life vest. A week later he found a Facebook group for those that have the same disease. He posted a picture of himself in the vest and lady named Margo saw the picture. She had been fitted with a vest a few months prior. She sent him a message with words of encouragement and understanding.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From that day on they began to talk about their condition and a relationship began to form.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On Aug 23, 2013 they were engaged and on February 12, 2014, the 2 year anniversary of Margo's diagnosis, they were married. They have been through this journey together ever since.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Matt has been a life long drummer and in 2013, along with his diagnosis, started a Facebook page called Phoenix Area Drummers. His vision was to bring drummers in Arizona together and he succeeded big time. The online group morphed into a working organization that holds clinics, swap meets and fund raisers.
</div>
<div>He has also sold real estate for more than 20 years.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the past few months, Matt's condition has deteriorated to the point that his heart is working at 10% capacity. There is no way his body can sustain so weak of a heart, so he has gone through a battery of tests to determine his fitness for a heart transplant.
</div>
<div>On July 3rd he is officially on the transplant list and waiting for that new ticker.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It will be a long time before Matt will be able to get out to sell real estate and probably longer before he can sit behind drums on a stage. To this end, I have decided to start this page to try to get some help for Matt AND Margo.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Both Matt and Margo have been pretty quiet in this trial.. not broadcasting the situation. They even had to think about letting me set up this page. They don’t want to burden anyone..
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>They need us in this absolutely uncertain time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please share this link with anyone and everyone.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Matt and Margo are grateful for your support, whether it be monetarily, spiritually and or emotionally.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you so much.
</div>
<div>Be good humans.

Matt's New Ticker

Friends, I am once again in need of your assistance. Three weeks before the anniversary of the passing of my beloved brother, Buzz, my mother has been admitted to ICU with terminal Congestive Heart Failure, due to the failure of her artificial aortic valve.<br /><br />The valve was only ex[ected to last for 10 years. It has functioned for almost four years past its expiration date. Unfortunately, circumstances of poor health kept her from getting it replaced sooner, and now it is too late. <br /><br />I desperately need funds to cover travel expenses to and from Delaware, and for an unknown length of stay. While I will be able to find lodgings with family and friends, I will still need round trip airfare ASAP and the ability to rent a car for the duration of my stay.<br /><br />I am tokd she is still in good spirits, for now, but none us us can predict how long she has left. I would love to be able to hug my mother and say goodbye, while she can still feel and hear it.<br /><br />My undying gratitude is all I have to offer in return for your help. Thank you!
