I am a 53-year-old man who has lost everything. For years, I had a family, a home, and steady work, but addiction took hold of my life. In my struggle to support my habit, I made mistakes that led to prison. After my release, I worked hard to rebuild, traveling between Lewiston and Bangor, but tragedy struck when my mother, a physician and one of the most important people in my life, passed away from cancer. Watching her die was devastating, and it left me feeling alone and hopeless. Since then, I have been homeless for seven years, sleeping outdoors and begging for money to survive. My addiction made it impossible to maintain any kind of life, and I lost touch with everyone I cared about. Now, I am trying to address my drug issues, attend meetings, and get support, but I have no one to help me obtain the basic things I need. Proper footwear and clothing are essential for me to clean myself up, find employment, and start over. I am asking for help to get a new pair of shoes and some clothes so I can get my life back on track. It's difficult and embarrassing to ask, but I have exhausted all other options. I come from a good family, and I want to regain my dignity and independence. Any support means the world to me, and I am grateful for any help you can offer.
