<div>Takara was born on January 24, 1984, in San Diego, California, and grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland, which she always considered home. She was deeply loved by her family and friends — a bright, funny, and fiercely loyal soul who touched everyone she met.

<div>Our family is heartbroken by her loss and is working to give her the beautiful homegoing service she deserves. Unfortunately, the costs associated with funeral and burial arrangements have placed a significant financial burden on us.

**UPDATE**
Yesterday our sweet Joanie went home to Jesus, thank you all for your generosity and support through this incredibly difficult time. Please continue to pray our family. We have been overwhelmed with the blessings of the community of friends and family who have been so generous to donate and help my parents. The next few months are going to be very difficult for my dad and we are praying God will guide him and bless him. If you feel so led, please continue to share this go fund me.

We lost a beautiful, precious life and I know she felt so loved by each and every one of you rooting her on. Heaven truly gained a perfect angel. ****



In the Fall of 2018, everything changed quickly and drastically for Dale and Joanie Mowery. Within weeks of each other, they were each diagnosed with cancer.  Joanie was diagnosed with breast cancer and Dale with rectal cancer.

Both underwent chemo and radiation along with invasive surgeries including Joanie’s double mastectomy and dales complicated procedures as well 

They both continued chemo and radiation until they were each in remission. 

We were so disheartened when a few months ago, Joanie started experiencing severe pain in her right rib. After many scans and tests she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. 

Despite the many treatments and options they have tried at a wonderful facility in Atlanta, Ga., the cancer has continued to aggressively progress and is now in her brain. 

We know Dale and Joanie have many friends and family who have been following their journey. So many of you have been praying along side of them. Right now, they are having to make very difficult life-decisions. 

We want to alleviate some of the financial difficulties, so that they can focus on the most important and beautiful thing—which is Joanie and her life. 

If you feel at all led to give to this Go Fund Me account, the Mowery family would be beyond grateful. We cannot imagine the pain she is feeling right now, but we do know it is intense. Any little amount would be helpful during this difficult season. If you are unable to give, we absolutely covet your prayers for this family. 

Pray for strength for Joanie in her body. Pray for peace. Pray for a miracle and that God would be tangible in this time. Pray for wisdom for Dale and for the Holy Spirit to reign in these hospital rooms and in the conversations being held regarding her treatments. Pray for answers and pray that they would feel the love of Jesus surrounding them completely in these moments ahead of them.
