<div>On <strong><em>Sunday, September 21, my dad, Martin Nerea Gómez, passed away after bravely fighting stage 4 brain and lung cancer for 7 years.</em></strong> Even until the end, he held hope he could beat it again. His sudden passing has left us devastated and unprepared.

<div>Now it’s just the three of us, my mom, my sister and me. Along with the grief of losing him, we are also left with <strong>medical debt from his hospitalizations and treatments, and the funeral costs in Colombia</strong> that we’re still struggling to pay off.

<div>We did our best to honor our dad and fulfill his wishes. Between funeral costs, medical bills, travel for legal matters, and missed work and school, we are under immense financial strain. My mom is now widowed and the sole provider, and I study and work full-time to help with bills, but missing work has made it even harder.

<div>We are asking for any help you can give to ease these financial burdens. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward funeral expenses and medical debt. Most importantly, it will give us some relief so we can focus on grieving and remembering my dad instead of constantly worrying about the financial stress.

Mi mamá ahora está viuda y es la única proveedora, y yo estudio y trabajo a tiempo completo para ayudar con los gastos, pero perder días de trabajo lo ha hecho aún más difícil.

<div>My dad is the most kindhearted, loving dad i could've ever asked for. As you can see his smile always light up every room. He taught me everything i know about love, empathy, resilience and kindness.

<div>We are stuggling so much without him, both emotionally and financially. His medical bills get bigger and bigger with each passing day. We are working hard and pushing every day for him. With God by our side we will overcome this devastating situation.

<div>Unfortunately, we’ve received little to no help from most of our family. Those who have been able to support us are also facing financial challenges and can only contribute a small amount.

<div>Right now, it’s just my mom and me covering all the expenses. My mom works as a nanny and supports two households in two different countries. I give everything I can. I’m a full-time student and work full-time and together we’re doing everything possible to keep things going, but it still isn’t enough.

<div>My dad had beat lung cancer in 2022 after undergoing an extremely risky and expensive surgery. <strong>Over 20% of his lung was removed, leaving him with lifelong, chronic pain.</strong>

<div>In December of 2024, what started as a small cough became our worst nightmare. With limited access to health care, we paid what exams we could out of pocket. <strong>Scans confirmed a tumor, this time on his bronchus, where air flows. This tumor was slowly suffocating my dad. </strong>He would have coughing episodes so bad he could barely breathe.

<div><strong>My dad had to leave the country in May and 3 months later he has yet to start any treatment.</strong> Due to Colombia's healthcare system, that means months of waiting for each test with insurance. <strong>While he waited, the cancer spread to his kidney. Now to his brain. Two tumors are causing him to loose feeling from the left side of his face, his mouth, and his eye. He is at risk for paralysis.</strong>

<div><strong>He has been hospitalized multiple times, coughing blood, in excruciating pain, all while being thousands of miles away from us. Right now my dad urgently needs radiation, chemotherapy, medications, and housing close to the hospital so he can get treatment safely. </strong>

<div><strong>We are asking for help because we’ve reached the point where we cannot cover this ourselves.</strong>

<div>En diciembre de 2024, lo que comenzó como una pequeña tos se convirtió en nuestra peor pesadilla. Con acceso limitado a la atención médica, pagamos los exámenes que pudimos de nuestro bolsillo. <strong>Los estudios confirmaron un tumor, esta vez en el bronquio, por donde pasa el aire. Este tumor estaba sofocando lentamente a mi papá.</strong> Tenía episodios de tos tan fuertes que apenas podía respirar.

<div><strong>Mi papá tuvo que salir del país en mayo y tres meses después aún no ha podido iniciar ningún tratamiento. </strong>Debido al sistema de salud en Colombia, eso significa meses de espera para cada examen con seguro. <strong>Mientras esperaba, el cáncer se extendió a su riñón. Ahora también a su cerebro. Dos tumores le están causando pérdida de sensibilidad en el lado izquierdo de la cara, la boca y el ojo. Está en riesgo de parálisis.</strong>

<div><strong>Ha estado hospitalizado varias veces, tosiendo sangre y con un dolor insoportable, todo mientras está a miles de kilómetros de nosotros. Ahora mismo, mi papá necesita urgentemente radioterapia, quimioterapia, medicamentos y un lugar cerca del hospital donde pueda recibir tratamiento de manera segura.</strong>

Help the Nerea Family After the Loss of Martin

<div>Jacob was a talented, young artist with goals and aspirations to set the world on fire with his music.  He attended Florida State University and had just wrapped up his Freshman year.  He was the only son of Carlos and Claudia, immigrants  from Colombia.  Jacob was the first in his family to attend college.  He was 19 years old, and his untimely death came in the early hours of Sunday, May 8, 2022 when he was struck and killed by a Collier County Sheriffs Officer’s vehicle, according to news reports.

Hello I am Virgil Vertrees I am raising money for Eduardo Ivan Paredes, Eddie has worked with me over the past 9 or so years and has devloped Kidney (Renal) failure. Eddie is a great guy a devoted family man with 2 young children and a simply wonderful wife. His wife lost her job a short while before Eddie found out the extent of his disease and he has now gone on dialysis 3 times a week, Eduardo is 38 years old his Wife Karyna is 35 and his children are Edward 11 and Aryanna 6. Edwardo has no insurance since he had a small business and was on his wifes until she lost her job. At this point he can not work in the maintenance  profession for his own company Eduardo Handyman Services. He will need the funds to keep his residence (rental)  and to pay for medical bills so that he can stay in this area with his family and stay with his doctors. This would bless his family beyond measure and would help with the depression that he is coming under with the realization that he is no longer able to work, believe me when I say this gentleman has never been in any way shape or form a person who shied away from work.  I love this guy and it would mean so much to me and him if we could show him and his family the love and kindness that we all have in a time of serious need.<br /><br />Thank you and may God bless you all for your kindness and generosity.
