My connection to my grandchildren is the center of my life. I am a disabled grandmother raising my three grandchildren, ages 6, 5, and 4, all diagnosed with autism. They depend on me for everything—stability, routine, care, and emotional safety. Our home is their safe place. Because of their diagnoses, consistency and security are essential for their well-being. In this home, they have structure, familiar surroundings, and a caregiver who understands their needs, appointments, therapies, and daily challenges. I am not just their guardian—I am their constant. Losing this home or facing instability would be devastating for them. My greatest goal is to keep them safe, housed, and emotionally supported while I navigate the delays in housing assistance that are beyond my control. The need for funds right now is urgent because of an unexpected delay in my housing assistance. I was approved for a Section 8 voucher, but during the transfer of my case between offices, the contract has not yet been finalized. Because of this delay, the rent that was previously covered is now my responsibility for this month. I am currently facing an immediate rent balance, along with a required security deposit, which I was not prepared for. These costs came up suddenly while my case is still being processed, and I have no clear timeline for when payments will begin. My only income at the moment is limited and already committed to basic necessities for my grandchildren. Without temporary help, I am at risk of falling behind on rent while waiting for the program to be finalized. This fundraiser is to help us get through this gap and keep a stable home for my grandchildren during this transition. The funds raised will go directly toward keeping a roof over our heads during this transition. They will be used to cover the remaining rent balance for this month and the required security deposit so we can remain in our home while my housing assistance is finalized. Any additional support will help with basic necessities such as food, utilities, and transportation for my grandchildren’s medical and therapy appointments. This support will give us stability and peace of mind while we wait for the program to begin, ensuring my grandchildren can remain in a safe, familiar environment without disruption.
