<div>My mother, Machiko, spent her life quietly making the world a little better for the people and animals around her.

<div>Many of you knew her personally. Others may know her through the stories I've shared over the years about my family, our Japanese heritage, and the values that shaped who I am.

<div>Recently, we lost her after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Machiko was never someone who sought recognition or attention. She simply saw people and animals in need and did what she could to help.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Music was one of the great joys of her life. For many years, she performed alongside her close friend and musical collaborator, Paul . Together, they shared countless performances, friendships, and memories that brought happiness to many people throughout our community.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She also had an enormous heart for animals, especially stray and feral cats. She didn't just feed them. She spent years earning their trust, helping trap and transport them for spay and neuter programs, arranging veterinary care, and whenever possible finding them safe and loving homes.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Some of the local cats knew her so well that they recognized her car. I remember driving through town one night and seeing a cat run after the vehicle. It took me a moment to realize it wasn't chasing me. It thought my mother had come to feed it.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>That was who she was.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the years, she volunteered with several local animal rescue organizations and dedicated countless hours, energy, and resources to helping animals that many people would have overlooked. Even while undergoing cancer treatments, she continued caring for the animals that depended on her.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>When she passed away, she left behind nearly a dozen cats that she had been caring for. We are now working to make sure they continue receiving care and eventually find safe and loving homes.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We will be holding a memorial and celebration of life for Machiko this October. In the meantime, we wanted to honor her memory in a way that reflects the work that meant so much to her.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Funds raised through this memorial fundraiser will help provide food, veterinary care, and temporary housing support for the cats she leaves behind while they are placed into loving homes. Any remaining funds will be donated in Machiko's memory to the local animal rescue organizations she volunteered with and supported throughout her life.

<div>My mother's generosity touched far more lives than she ever realized. If I inherited any of my desire to help people, build community, and create a place where others feel welcome, it came from watching her quietly help those who needed it, whether they walked on two legs or four.

<font color="#333333">Hi everyone, this is Karl from KARLSBALLS Takoyaki. This year for my birthday, July 1,  I was lucky to discover a rare Kei (KEI = Small) Kitchen Truck being imported to USA from Osaka, Japan. It is a 1994 Daihatsu HiJet S100 that was a retired Fried Chicken food truck.  Knowing how rare it was to find one in USA, albeit low miles and in good condition as well as looking  at ways to expand the Takoyaki business due to high demand, I immediately applied for a small loan of $4500 with addition of $2000 from my savings to put a down payment on the vehicle. <br /><br />The sellers were kind enough to allow me to work off the balance for the summer.  Every event we are cooking, we are allocating profits to slowly pay off the remaining $6500, and then the vehicle will be 100% ours.<br /><br />In order to complete the full project, there are many things that need to be purchased, upgraded and or fabricated, since this vehicle is one of a kind and the only one in the USA.  Here is a list of things needing to be purchased and fabricated in order to make Ballmobile complete and ready to go at 100%:<br /><br />1). Order 2 new grills Japan along with 2 extra sets of cooking plates. (For a total of 3 sets) Each grill will be able to cook 50 pieces (a total of 100 pieces) in about 15 minutes. <br />2). Extra Takoyaki utensils: oil brushes, Takoyaki picks, ladles<br />Fabricate a custom stainless steel counter top and shelving to cook on top of. <br />3). A very complete security system (alarm, cameras, wifi, small LCD monitor) <br />4). Back up camera with monitor <br />5) 2000w Solar generator for sustainable electric. Panels to be installed on top<br />6). Upgraded wheels and tires to withstand NYC potholes<br />7).  Fabricate hand wash sink<br />8).  Potable water system <br />9).  Upgraded headlamps<br />10).  Fix 2 exhaust fans<br />11).  Install interior LED lighting <br />12).  Install fans to keep staff cool <br />13).  Upgrade the flooring for water proofing (truck bed liner or Diamond-plating) <br />14).  Fix the glass windows<br />15).  Replace outside shelf (on passenger side that broke during the shipping process)<br />16).  New stereo system<br />17). Reupholster seats <br />18).  Vinyl wrap with bright Yellow KARLSBALLS Tent Theme <br />19).  Garage storage<br /><br />Most of our earnings this year has been spent on very high ingredient costs, employee wages and medical bills to my neck and back ($300 a week, totaling over $1200 a month) <br /><br />There are only less than a handful of Takoyaki businesses in the USA, and our goal is to promote takoyaki culture nationwide with the love and support of our customers as well as from fans and organizations overseas.  Having a truck like this will able to help KARLSBALLS Takoyaki cook all year round as well as collaborate with local businesses to provide them with Takoyaki on their menu, and curate private events.<br /><br />Our last phase is to upgrade our work van, a 2014 Nissan NV200 Small Cargo Van to a larger one (Ford Transit 350 HD) so we can trailer and transport Ballmobile, in addition to our crew and equipment in order to cook at venues all over the United States.<br /><br />KARLSBALLS Takoyaki has been operating over 7 years in NYC. Starting with small street fairs, to now being the official Takoyaki vendor for Japan Fes, NYC Comic Con, to Anime NYC, we garnered a reputation for being one of the most popular and unique street food vendors in NYC. We’ve been featured on NHK/BS1 News in Japan, The Cooking Channel, VICE, Buzzfeed, Travel Thirsty, as well as many food blogs, and are a sponsor of the New York Asian Film Festival, as well as a returning and featured vendor for The Food Film Festivsal.  <br /><br />Many of our customers have been asking for us to have a more permanent location, and although having a brick and mortar location would be ideal, we know that the costs to operate one would drastically cut the quality of our already high ingredient cost.  Having a mobile vehicle will still provide us with low overhead costs, so we can maintain the high quality Takoyaki we are known for.  The sooner we can have our Gofundme fully funded, the sooner we can start building the Ballmobile and the sooner we can cook for you all year round! <br /><br />Please help achieve our dreams! <br /><br />Karl <br /><br /></font>

<p>The Seabrook Buddhist Temple is hosting a Tanko Bushi Dance Marathon on September 18th beginning at 10am! For every $500 raised, a group of Temple volunteers will dance Tanko Bushi, everyone’s favorite Obon dance, for 1 hour. Our goal is to raise $12,000 and dance for 24 hours!

Except this time around I am not simply closing my browser, I am doing something about it." <br /><br />Feeding communities at no-cost:</strong> with all the attacks and ridiculousness going on now, the one the thing that brings all of us together is food, especially when it is given out at no-cost.<br /><strong><br />To help bridge the divide between the Asian community and the community at-large.</strong> We are raising money to provide food at no-cost as 1. pop-up events 2. bento boxes distributed in the communities that these incidents happened in, specifically New York, and the SF Bay Area although we intend on also doing events in Colorado, Los Angeles, and beyond.<br /><br /><strong>Funds will go towards supporting micro and small restaurant business owners:</strong> we have a network of individuals and business owners that we plan on working with, but it takes all of you to help make this happen. Without you, we cannot fill people’s bellies with some luv’n because you know, you will not have a lot of hate in you, when you have a belly full of food made with love. Nothing says that better than lumpia (Philippines), baozi (Chinese), dukbokki (Korean), takoyaki (Japanese), to a lot more from around the world because hate is exclusively not just an Asian thing.<br /><br /><strong>Pay it forward:</strong> your contributions will help bridge the divide, along with businesses able to contribute will help other business that were hard hit by the pandemic. 20th anniversary Raybeez tribute 

<strong>This is the Official GoFundMe Victims Fund created for Gary Meskil, singer for the Hardcore Metal band PRO-PAIN.</strong><br /><br /><strong>On July 3rd, Gary was the victim of a Robbery and Attempted Murder in Brussels Belgium. He was pick-pocketed of cash, credit card, and passport, struck on the head with an ice pick and then subsequently attacked by a gang of individuals. The police have confiscated more than one weapon and they have established the identities of some of the suspects. Gary was quickly admitted to ICU after suffering head trauma (including several fractures to his face and jaw) and massive blood loss.
