Help Brandt’s Daughter Bring Her Father Home
My name is David, and I am organizing this fundraiser for the family of Brandt Carl Kofton, someone I was fortunate to know for about 15 years.
Brandt died suddenly after a heart attack and stroke. His death has left his family trying to manage painful final arrangements from another state, while also grieving the loss of a father, loved one, and friend.
Brandt was the biological father of two daughters. Even after Brandt and Emmamaagic divorced, they remained dedicated co-parents. When Emmamaagic and the girls had to relocate to Maine, Brandt stayed in Massachusetts, but he remained connected to his daughters and continued to love them deeply. Distance changed the logistics of their relationship, but it never erased the bond.
Brandt’s 27-year-old daughter, Alex, is now trying to bring her father home with dignity.
In his later years, Brandt’s health declined significantly, and he eventually ended up living in a nursing home in Massachusetts. That made it much harder for his family in Maine to be physically present, especially because of serious disability, medical limitations, transportation barriers, and the cost of repeated travel between Maine and Massachusetts.
The family has already made one difficult trip to Massachusetts, but another trip is now medically unsafe for Emmamaagic. The first trip caused serious pain, swelling, leg edema, and a significant medical flare-up. Because of that, the family now needs to hire someone else to travel to Massachusetts on their behalf.
Funds raised will help cover the practical costs of bringing Brandt’s ashes home to Maine. The family also needs to retrieve Brandt’s wheelchair from the nursing home, which Alex will be able to use because she has her own mobility needs.
Donations will help with expenses such as:
• vehicle rental
• hotel costs
• gas
• tolls
• death certificate costs
• trailer rental to bring back the wheelchair
• paying someone to make the trip because the family cannot safely do it themselves
This fundraiser is not for anything extravagant. It is to help Brandt’s daughter bring her father home, handle the final logistics with dignity, and recover something meaningful from his life that can still help his family.
Any donation, no matter the size, would be deeply appreciated. If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser would also help.
Thank you for helping Brandt’s family bring him home.
