Help Desiree and Skylar with Unexpected Medical Bills

<div>Hi, my name is Potato. I am a one-year-old rescue from Mexico living in Los Angeles with my mom and best friend, Mikaela. My mom is a doctoral graduate student at UCLA. She got me when I was nine weeks old after someone tried to drown me and my siblings. Mom works very hard with me on my anxiety, and I try to be the bravest boy, but I still get scared every now and again.

<div>On March 5, 2024, I got spooked while we were walking and took off running through a busy road in Los Angeles. Mom chased me all the way home, but I kept running because I couldn’t get in and was so scared. I was lost for about an hour running through the city. She drove around looking for me, but I ran too far for her to find me and too far to find my way back. I ran three and a half miles away from home until two angels found me lying under a staircase covered in blood. They called my mom, and she came to get me right away and took me to the animal hospital. I was so happy to see my mom.

<div>Based on my injuries, the doctors think I was hit by a car and slid across the road. I have multiple deep lacerations on my face, legs, and feet; a lot of bruising; and chest contusions (bruising/bleeding in my lungs). I also wore my paw pads down to the point of being raw and my nails down to the quick from running. I had two laceration surgeries (the first with anesthesia and the second with sedation). The surgeon said my first surgery was very involved because there were a significant amount of dirty wounds.

<div>My mom is fundraising to help pay for the costs of my medical care, which are expected to be over $4,000 after insurance. My first two surgeries/visits were extremely expensive, and I need to have frequent bandage changes in-hospital for the next few weeks while under sedation. Mom had to apply for an emergency credit card to help pay for my medical care, and the credit limit wasn’t enough to cover all of my medical care. Mom does have pet insurance, luckily, but it’s the lowest level of reimbursement and the highest deductible. Because my care is very expensive, mom will end up paying around $4,000 of her own money. Insurance gave my mom a claim processing window of up to 25 days, so currently, every expense is out of pocket.

My little girl's name is chica Taylor. She is a 4lb long haired dwarf Chihuahua. So full of energy so cute so lovable. But lately these days I have been full of pain for her. Chica has a tooth abscess that requires surgery to remove. I have no job. I panhandle to try to pay the rent and get by. So I'm asking for your help. Healing baby chica

Those that know Frank Hammar would say he is perhaps the most resilient, determined, and driven student to ever set foot in Miami Ad School.<br /><br />In fact, his level of determination can only be summed up by his response to the events of June 7th that have landed him in the hospital.<br /><br />Frank was robbed at gunpoint while walking home from dinner with his parents around 10:30pm in Miami's Wynwood Art District. He sustained two gunshot wounds – but fortunately is expected to make a full recovery at Jackson Memorial Hospital.<br /><br />The most telling fact of Frank's character is that less than 24 hours after the incident, he was asking for his laptop so he could continue working on projects as his graduation from school sat around the corner on June 10th.<br /><br />We are asking for immediate donations in any amount possible to help Frank with his medical expenses, which are expected to be immense as he is an international student without US medical insurance. This will tremendously help ease the burden his parents Liisa and Holger Hammar must manage, as Frank's student visa expires within the next month.<br /><br />Many thanks are extended from Frank, his family, and the multitude of lives he has touched and friendships he has forged throughout his journey at Miami Ad School.

<div>Our sweet dog, Clementine, is having a big dental surgery this Friday, October 25th. She has had bad teeth for quite some time; some have fallen out already, and those she still has cause her a great amount of pain, and she cannot eat solid food comfortably. Recently, we also found out that due to the state of Clementine's gums, she is more vulnerable to infection that could cause larger problems if not addressed.

<div>I adopted Clementine 9 years ago in October 2015. She comes from the Soi Dog Foundation, who rescues dogs from the Thai dog meat trade. For those of you who know her—you know she is full of love and energy, despite her age—now, 12 and a half years old. She’s always been a super sweet girl, full of smiles—especially if there’s a treat around. We're hoping to keep her beautiful spirit alive and healthy for as many more years as we can by making sure she gets the care she needs.
