UPDATE: I have gotten the Department of social services to agree to pay my back rent. I do need to show them that I paid the previous month's rent. At the same time, I need to keep my car running until I finish arranging another form of transportation, which is in the works.
I am letting my car go as the expense of running it is too much and will be using a form of public transportation. The car will be gone within a few weeks now and I need this to work.
The last 4 months since I put this up has been an intense struggle, but I am almost where I need to be to be secure going forward.
Please help with anything you can. Every little bit helps.
I’m facing an immediate housing crisis. Due to ongoing financial hardship, I’ve fallen behind on rent and have now received a Notice putting my housing at risk. My rental arrears total $11,728.70, and without urgent support, I could lose my home.
I’ve tried everything I can to fix this on my own. I applied for rental assistance through DSS and was denied. I’ve had multiple conversations with my housing provider and my case manager. Despite all of that effort, the balance remains — and now time has run out.
This home is more than just a place to live. It’s my stability, my safety, and the foundation I need to keep going. Losing it would be devastating and would undo so much of what I’ve been trying to hold together during an already incredibly difficult period of my life.
Asking for help is not easy, but I’m asking because I truly need it. Any amount — no matter how small — makes a real difference. Even sharing this fundraiser could help save my housing.
If you’re able to support me, please know that your kindness means more than I can put into words. This support could be the difference between staying housed and facing displacement.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, for caring, and for standing with me during one of the hardest moments of my life.
With deep gratitude,
Danika
