Bring Nala Home: From the Streets of Georgia to Our Loving Home in Philadelphia, PA
We first met this tiny puppy in August 2025, in a hotel parking lot in Kobuleti, Georgia.
Local kids were entertaining themselves by throwing rocks at her. She struggled to get away.
We couldn’t leave her there.
We named her Nala.
We had only one day left before flying back to the US, but we decided to do everything we could to help Nala. We promised to give her a second chance at life.
We took her to the vet and found out that she was fighting for her life. She was diagnosed with parvovirus, salmonella, and giardia. She was infested with fleas, ticks, and intestinal worms. She was skin and bones, and too weak to eat. She likely had been hit by a car, and her back leg was so mangled and twisted that she could only stand for short periods of time.
Her vet slept at the clinic for a week to keep her alive.
With each passing day, Nala was feeling a little better. She started to wag her tail. She started playing and gaining weight. She started putting weight on her damaged leg and walking more.
And now it’s time to fulfill our promise.
There’s little hope of finding a safe, stable home for Nala in Georgia. We want to bring her to Philadelphia to join our family of humans and 2 rescue animals - a dog from Tennessee and a cat from New Jersey.
International rescue is complicated and expensive. Each month Nala spends in foster care costs about $400. So far, we have spent approximately $1000 on veterinary care. We are looking for the cheapest safe option to transport Nala to the US, but it's already clear that we will need thousands of dollars to get her ready to leave Georgia, fly to the US, and pass the CDC entry requirements. These costs are far more than we can manage on our own.
❤️ This is why we need your help. ❤️
Every dollar brings Nala closer to home. Your kindness means she will never have to face abuse and hunger again.
Please donate if you can, and share Nala’s story with your friends and family. Together, we can give her a gift of kindness, love, and a forever home.
Let’s bring Nala home.
EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS.
