Hello, We are Ben and May. Our dog Daisy has recently developed sudden and frightening facial paralysis affecting her eyes. She is no longer able to blink or fully close either of them, and when she tries to play or exert energy, her face noticeably droops while panting. Watching this happen so suddenly and without explanation has been incredibly alarming. This is completely unlike the Daisy we know: vibrant, expressive, and full of life. After researching and growing increasingly concerned, we suspected it could be related to an ear infection and took her to the emergency vet, hoping for clear and reassuring answers. After examination, the vets have expressed that her not being able to blink (bilaterally) was a bit jarring for them to see. And that unfortunately, because there were no signs of an external ear infection, the vet explained that this is more likely an internal ear infection, something that cannot be properly diagnosed without an MRI. At this point, the MRI is the only way to understand what is happening inside Daisy’s body. It’s the only way to know whether this is something treatable, something that requires immediate intervention, or something far more serious that cannot be left unanswered. The cost of the MRI and necessary testing is unfortunately more than my husband and I can afford right now. We are devastated and heartbroken to be in a position where finances stand between Daisy and the answers she urgently needs. We are asking for help so we can move forward with this MRI as soon as possible so we are not left waiting while her condition worsens or becomes irreversible. For now, the vet has prescribed an eye lubricant to help with the dryness in Daisy’s eyes and prevent ulcers, along with us occasionally physically assisting her in blinking. Thankfully her eyes are not damaged at this time but without the proper blinking, it could lead to ulcers and that is something we are trying our best to prevent. We have attached some photos: The third photo compares her normal happy smile (left) with the facial paralysis affecting her smile (right). Estimate from hospital - Medical costs are estimated and may increase depending on diagnosis and final billing. Watching Daisy struggle without knowing why has been heartbreaking. Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward her MRI and medical care expenses. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means more than we can express. Thank you for helping us give Daisy the chance to get answers, relief, and the care she deserves. Much love, Ben & May
