My name is April, and I recently moved back to Bay Springs, MS after a difficult time being homeless and losing my kids. I’m grateful to have them back, but things are still tough. I lost my job and have fallen behind on bills. Our house is a small two-bedroom, but it’s falling apart—the landlord won’t fix anything, and there are leaks everywhere. This makes our water bill skyrocket, and my lights are currently off. I’ve been getting help from local agencies, but their funds have run out for me. I’m struggling to buy clothes, shoes, school supplies, and diapers for my kids. I fix what I can around the house, but it’s hard to keep up. I don’t want to end up in a situation where I lose my kids again, so I’m asking for help. It takes a village to raise kids, and I’m reaching out to my community for support. Any help means so much to me and my kids. When I lost my kids, I tried to do it on my own, but I’ve learned to ask for help.
