Hello, thank you for taking a few moments to read this! The Discovery In October 2024, I purchased a humidifier to help with my breathing, eczema, and to provide extra care for my house plants. I recently discovered that it had been running this entire time with a hidden plastic bag trapped inside, creating a perfect, enclosed environment for black mold to flourish. Every time I turned it on to help myself or my pets breathe, I was actually pumping concentrated toxins into our lungs. My name is Lee E. I am 35 years old and reside a few miles outside of Philadelphia, PA. I am the owner of Flow State Healing—a Licensed Reiki Practitioner/Intuitive Medium, as well as The Dog Walker LLC—a professional pet care and animal rescue business. My life’s work is centered on healing and vitality, but for the last year+, my own health has been systematically dismantled by a hidden danger I never saw coming. The Physical and Neurological Toll About one month ago, following 18+ months of black mold exposure, the conditions/symptoms became rapidly debilitating. My nervous system fully collapsed under the weight of an unpredictable year, severe grief, and chronic burnout from working 365 days a year since 2019. I was entirely unaware that anything beyond stress was at play; the symptoms felt just similar enough to my existing struggles that my brain's executive dysfunction couldn't properly assess the true danger. A Total Loss of Property To stop the cycle of sickness, I’ve had to face the devastating task of discarding nearly everything I own. Mold spores permeate porous materials, meaning my "safe space" was no longer safe. I am facing an urgent electric bill shut-off on Wednesday 04/15/26, totaling $1250. Additionally, I have no health insurance to cover the out-of-pocket medical mold detox I desperately need. I know $15,000 is a massive amount of money. My goal is to use any assistance I receive to the absolute fullest extent—stretching every dollar, finding affordable replacements, and prioritizing the health of my animals while I rebuild a non-toxic sanctuary.
