TRAM Notes 2026 Day one: Menahga to Park Rapids. It was 96 degrees in Menahga when I checked in. They let us sleep inside the air conditioned school. It was actually too cold and I put on warmer clothes in the middle of the night. I slept poorly, partly because the ceiling lights came on at 1:30 AM and stayed on. I got up at 5 AM and had breakfast. I started pedaling at 6:15 AM…my earliest start ever, I think. It was 71 degrees and the dew point was probably the same. I rode the whole way and it was sunny and 84 degrees when I finished. The other Pirates had already gone to lunch, so I had to go by myself. Everything was hurting the last half of this ride, and I’m pretty sore and whipped. Getting pizza and wine now.

My brother Shawn O'Laughlin is cycling toward a world free of multiple sclerosis. While I've donated myself, I want to make a greater impact by rallying support from others who care about this cause. Shawn is a dedicated member of the BikeMS team, Pirates in Tight Pants, and he's committed to raising important funds that will change the world for everyone affected by MS. Nearly 1 million people live with MS in the United States, and more than 2.8 million worldwide. MS is an unpredictable and often disabling disease of the central nervous system, with symptoms that vary from person to person. While we've come a long way in understanding and treating MS, there's still so much more to do. Shawn is counting on your support to help fuel progress! The money you donate will drive groundbreaking research and help the National MS Society continue providing services to people living with MS, so they can live their best lives. With support from people like you, we can ensure everyone affected by MS has what they need to take control of their journey. MS ends with us — donate and help Shawn reach his goal.
