My daughter is a single mother of three children and has always been an amazing mom and dedicated daycare provider. For years, she endured an abusive relationship, always putting her children’s safety first. When she finally found the courage to leave, she made the mistake of telling her partner about her plan, fearing for her and her children’s lives after discovering more about his actions. Before she could move forward, he intervened in a way that changed everything. That day, she lost her job, her home, She was arrested for domestic battery after a well-planned call by her partner. Throughout her life, she has worked tirelessly to keep her children safe, but in one moment, everything was taken from her. I received heartbreaking texts from her as the situation unfolded, asking me to be there or call the police, and sharing her fears for how the day would end. The final message told me the police were there and she was being taken away. My heart dropped, knowing her partner now had the children and she was going to jail. After a week, she is finally out, but she has lost everything. I am now caring for her and her children, facing the challenge of feeding many mouths and fighting for justice. We have a lawyer for her charge, but we desperately need one to help ensure the safety of her children. Money is the biggest obstacle right now.
