After losing everything to epilepsy in 2019, I’ve been working hard to rebuild my life and regain my independence. Recently, I found a new place to stay that offers me a fresh start, even though the rent is higher. I was determined to make it work, but just as things were looking up, I was hit with two unexpected setbacks: emergency brake repairs on my car costing $4,500, and a tax notice from 2017 for $7,400. These expenses have made it incredibly difficult to stay afloat, and I had to take out a loan just to cover the car repairs.

 The funds from this fundraiser will help me pay off the loan I took for the repairs and settle the tax bill, which I am working on with the help of a legal service. Your support will directly help me overcome these financial hurdles and continue on my path toward stability and independence. Every donation, no matter the size, brings me closer to regaining another part of my life and purpose.

<div>My name is Erica and I am starting this GoFundMe to support my brother, Jes Sward, so he can continue to be the best dad to his two teenage boys during this very challenging time. His youngest son, <strong>Dean, was very recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the age of 15.</strong> Things have been happening very fast, and Jes is now home from work trying to navigate this shocking news. Dean just started chemotherapy this past week and will need continuous care for some time. I want my brother to be able to stay positive and focused on his boys, and not be worried about his next job and how he will pay the bills and meet their basic needs, which unfortunately was already an issue due to the series of circumstances the family has been through over the last few years. Jes is trying to stay positive but he is under water financially at the moment and is already facing many costs related to cancer treatment that are not covered by Dean's insurance.

<div>Before getting Dean's diagnosis, Jes was just starting to recover from his divorce from his kids mom, caring for our own mom with pancreatic cancer, and then also being a caregiver for our dad with dementia. Unfortunately, during this time, we lost both of our parents within 8 months of each other. All of this coming on the tails of COVID. To say Jes had some tough years is an understatement!

<div>Jes is now a single dad with just myself and my husband as his immediate family for support. If you have not seen him for awhile, it is because he has spent the last several years navigating a divorce and caring for his kids, helping others, and caring for our parents. He has had his hands more than full giving to others, and now he needs us to rally for him. If you know Jes, you know he wears his heart on his sleeve and would give that shirt to you if you were in need. Jes is truly an amazing dad with so much to give, but he needs us now.

<div>Jes is already a very hands on dad, and will need to be a primary caregiver for Dean over at least the next 6 months throughout the chemotherapy treatments and then beyond for recovery. He's the most dedicated father, giving everything to care for his boys and give them every opportunity possible and all the love and support they both deserve. They have both grown into amazing young men with so much life ahead of them, in a large part due to Jes' unconditional love and selfless dedication.

<div>Unfortunately the last few years of turmoil have meant that Jes acquired quite a bit of debt just trying to cover his family's basic needs while we were caring for our parents. He is doing everything in his power to keep the family home (where he is now living with the boys) that we just got back from a reverse mortgage that my parents left us with. We want him to be able to stay in his home, as he needs to have a safe place to care for his boys and to nurture them throughout this challenging chapter. Jes lost huge support when he lost his father, John John, who you may know was not only his dad, but a friend, his mentor and gave him quiet support throughout the years. Jes and John John are 5th and 4th generation mason's and built a vast majority of the fireplaces, walls and patios in Muir Beach and Marin County. Jes has worked hard his entire life and it is hard for him to ask for help but he deserves a bit of respite to get through the challenges that lie ahead.

<div>To ensure the survival of CREATE, passionate members of the community have come together to launch a spirited fundraising campaign. Their goal is not just to save a store but to preserve a cultural cornerstone that has fueled the dreams and aspirations of countless skateboarders. Enthusiasts, local artists, and even professional skateboarders have joined forces, organizing events, designing limited-edition merchandise, and reaching out to the wider community through social media campaigns.

<div>Since opening our doors in October of 2019 CREATE has always been a safe place for artists and skateboarders to join in creative expression. In March of 2020 just five months after opening our doors we could've never been prepared for a global pandemic. We invested our live savings into the newly opened store and had no idea what was going to happen. CREATE had to pivot and pivot quickly. We decided to launch a live stream channel on Twitch.tv/live_from_create with the help of the SF Nightlife community we managed to weather the storm of the COVID-19 pandemic. We received very little help from the state or federal government "We're not a big corporation". At the end of 2022 we stared to see foot traffic decline and Christmas/Holiday was non existent for numerous retailers around the country. We thought we might see a boom in traffic in the summer of 2023 and with the construction in front of the store on 6th Street taking more then a year, it didn't allow for much foot traffic at all.

Unfortunately we don't qualify for the Federal ERC tax credit because we are a family run business. This GoFundMe will help us keep the lights on. Heart failure, acute renal injury, cellulitis, and over all broke-down. I am in fairly good health.. and had no drugs or alcohol in my system . Flora Amos-Westbrook owned Flora's Hair Design for four decades until her dream came crashing down. On May 29, Flora's Hair Design was burned to the ground due to civil unrest in Minneapolis, Minnesota. <br /><br />Flora's Hair Design has been a pillar on Broadway Avenue where men, women and children came to get beautified and  had history lessons from elders in the community. Flora has exhausted all of her energy and savings in building the community, creating jobs for entrepreneurs and aiding in generational wealth. Flora's Hair Design  has been in business from Afros to box braids and now needs your help to rebuild and make the community better. The plan now is to create a safe space that is better than ever for beauticians, esthetician and barbers to come fresh out of cosmetology school to change the community one hairstyle at a time.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, there was a devastating fire that engulfed the Winchester's home. Everyone is safe, but their home is no longer liveable. They lost many of their material belongings, but thankfully and most importantly, still have each other.  The funds raised on this page will go directly to the Winchesters to help them recover from their loss.
