My name is Zac, and I never imagined I’d be in this position. After years of struggling with alcoholism, I made the difficult decision to seek help and have been sober since February 2022. My marriage ended as a result, but I knew I had to make a change for myself. Since then, I’ve worked hard to rebuild my life and am now in a loving, healthy relationship. Recently, life threw us another curveball. Despite being told by doctors that having a child was unlikely, my partner and I—at ages 41 and 37—are now expecting a baby. This news has brought us so much joy and hope, but it’s also come at a challenging time. Due to an accident, I am unable to work anymore. I don’t want to dwell on the details or blame anyone, but the reality is that I’ve run through my savings and 401k just trying to keep us afloat. We are overjoyed to welcome this miracle child, but I am scared and not financially ready. Any support you can offer will help us with baby essentials and living expenses as we prepare for this new chapter. I feel ashamed to ask for help, but I have nowhere else to turn.
