<div>Hi Friends, I’m Gary Hoey, the brother of Robert Hoey from Lowell, MA, and I’m asking for your help for my brother. On July 20, 2025, <strong>my brother Bobby suffered a massive heart attack</strong>. It happened while he was at work. Luckily, he received CPR from a coworker, which probably saved his life. He was rushed by ambulance to Lowell General Hospital where they immediately operated and put in a stent. His heart was 90% blocked. He may need a heart transplant or pace maker. His liver and kidneys were damaged but can be repaired. In the following 48 hours, he has been at Tufts Medical in Boston and has made miraculous improvements. He blinked his eyes in response to the doctors and family questions, squeezing hands and giving thumbs up. The doctors have said it’s amazing progress. <strong>My brother has a wife 2 children and 5 grandchildren</strong>. He served in the US Army. He was a prison guard for 20 years at Concord state prison. My brother has a big heart and always gives back to his community. <div>My purpose in this life has been to serve others. As a nurse I can say I have truly done that and hope to for many more years! I have always wanted to be able to participate in a medical mission to serve those who are underserved, though the timing has always been not right. However, the stars have aligned and the time is right for me to do my first mission trip to serve the wonderful people of Honduras. I will be part of a team from New Hampshire that will travel to a rural village in Limon, Honduras 5/26-6/4. The organization I will be voluntering with is called the Caroline Honduras Health Foundation (CHHF.org). CHHF sends about 18-19 teams each year to provide medical and dental care to the underserved people of rural Honduras and surrounding villages. The care our team provides throughout the year is the only medical care these people receive. In a typical week we will see hundreds of patients and dispense over 1000 prescriptions.

<div>The cost of the mission trip is about 2400.00. I am asking friends and family to consider helping to support my mission if you are willing and able to. Any funds raised beyond the cost to help cover my trip will be donated to help purchase medical supplies and medications to use for our patients during my week of service. <div><strong>The Wish</strong>: My Dad desperately wants to make one last trip down to New Zealand with his wife of nearly 60 years (married on St. Patrick's Day 1962) to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary. He also has a lifelong dream of restoring the car he purchased in New Zealand (while stationed in Antarctica during Operation Deep Freeze). The car is a 1926 Chevrolet Touring Sedan and was driven through the New Zealand countryside by my parents on their honeymoon in 1962 . Your donations will go toward the travel expenses, and the car restoration - family will help out as much as possible to reach the goal.

<div>My Dad being a sentimental guy is very attached to the 1926 Chevy and wanted to bring it back to the US but never had the money to make it happen - other more pressing life expenses got in the way. But he never gave up on the dream and has kept the Chevy stored in New Zealand for 50+ years - initially with our Granddad, then family friends, and lastly at the Yaldhurst Museum (Christchurch). My Mom is a New Zealand citizen and grew up in Christchurch - she met my Dad when he was stationed in Antarctica and on R &amp; R in Christchurch. My Dad was smitten with the young Kiwi girl and that was all she wrote!

<div>In late June 2021, my brother and I secretly arranged to have the Chevy transported from the Yaldhurst Museum to Vintage and Veteran Restorations on the North Island. There we hoped to make my Dad's dream come true and have the Chevy restored. However, the project could not take place for a couple of months until there was room in the shop.
</div>

<div>In the meantime, we had a huge scare in August when my Dad got COVID. Three doctors, the palliative care team, and the hospice team were telling us to prepare for the worst - they were NOT optimistic for my Dad because of his age and him having cancer which made him immunocompromised. While my Dad was in the ICU incoherent and barely clinging to life, we decided to let him in on the secret of getting his baby restored and flying him and our Mom to New Zealand for their 60th wedding anniversary. It was at that point my Dad rallied and slowly became better. My brother and I believe that this surprise news is what gave our Dad the strength and determination (along with a lot of people pulling for him - prayers, well-wishes, positive energy) to battle hard. Fortunately, he does not remember the conversation, so getting the car restored is sill a secret. Our Mom has no clue either.

<div>After the first restoration report on the condition of the Chevy (Nov 8, 2021), my brother and I got a pretty big shock. The cost was far more than we ever dreamed ($30K). Currently, the restoration is at a bit of a standstill while we try to come up with the remainder of funds for our Dad's dream. We are working on getting airline tickets as well.  
</div>

Navy Veteran 60th Wedding Anniversary Dream

<p>Hiii everyone! My name is Rania and I’m raising money for my baby doggy Bella. 
</p>
<p>Let me tell you a little about her story,
</p>
<p>About a month ago Bella and mama took a drive to run some errands and while I had her in the passenger seat I noticed her left eye appeared to be enlarged significantly more than the right. I called her primary vet immediately and they asked for a photo. Once I sent that over to them they suggested Bella immediately be seen at the ER. I called over to a hospital in Portsmouth, NH as they have an ophthalmology team but unfortunately it was too late in the day and the optometrist wouldn’t of been able to see her so I waited for the following morning. She was seen by an ER doctor as well as the optometrist where they both agreed she would need imaging to confirm the cause of the eye bulging but told me to wait on it and see if antibiotics would help in case it was an abscess or infection. After a week ish and no improvements with the medicine and another visit to the ER her eye only grew in size so instead of wasting more time I scheduled the CT scan. Over the next week or so Bella’s eye only got worse and continued getting worse even after the CT  scan. The CT scan showed a pocket of mucus beyond her eye and Samples were taken from an aspirate to detect the mucus. It felt like the longest week waiting for the cytology to come back. Especially because 2 days after her scan her eye looked much worse and she seemed to be less herself so me being a crazy dog mom i brought her back to the ER which turned out that her eye had formed a corneal ulcer and i was finally able to get antibiotics to help. 
</p>
<p>I finally got the call from the doctor about her CT scan results that following Wednesday while at work and man was this the worse day of my life. The sample from the scan showed to have cells found from a tumor/sarcoma. CANCER. This was a complete stab in my heart, I didn’t see this coming for her and of course I spent acouple hours crying at work before my boss kindly suggested I go home. It was such hard news to swallow, Bella has always been so full of life, spirit, and energy. Bella was 13 going on 7 but unfortunately after this predicament it’s not so much the case for her anymore. These last few weeks have definitely taken a toll on her from finding cancer behind her eye to having a corneal ulcer to now being completely blind in the eye and having glaucoma, she’s been through a lot in such a short time and this experience has been far from easy on the both of us. I having been trying to stay as happy as possible around but sometimes it’s tough to hold it together. She’s my absolute life and my love for her is endless so seeing my best friend like this has been the hardest but the one thing I want is to be able to give her relief and comfort so she could be able to be more like her normal self than she has been these past few weeks. With that said her eye is very much pronounced from the socket we still have some time before it comes out on its own but i would never want wait for that or allow that to happen. I have decided to take the next step and have her eye removed.
</p>
<p>We met with a new doctor today and we have scheduled a procedure for Tuesday august 17th, he will be removing the eye/ tumor.  This is totally out of character for me to be asking anyone for money but where this has been a such a hard and long journey for us already and everything has been super costly,Bella and I need your help. If I may ask of any help you can offer whether it be a donation or to help spread her story both are equally appreciated. Please help me give my baby the relief and recovery she deserves!
