My name is Florencia Marsico. I'm looking to raise funds to cover my mother's transplant and her succession of very expensive medications. My mom's name is Maria Fernandez. She's a hardworking woman, a fantastic mom, and a loving wife. In the summer of 2009, she was diagnosed with cirrhosis (severe, irreparable scarring of the liver). Nobody has been able to tell us why or how she has it - she was never a drinker. It is incurable - her only hope of a normal life is to receive a transplant. She's been doing well, up until a few weeks ago - she became weak, couldn't maintain her balance, and was disoriented. At the visit with her oncologist, we were told that a cancerous mass was found in her liver and that she needed to be put on a transplant list immediately. The insurance does not cover 100% of the costs, nor will it cover any of the numerous medications she will be forced to take after the transplant for the remainder of her life. These medications are expensive, ranging in a total of about $1,000 per month. My mother cannot work. My father hasn't worked for the past couple months due to my mom can't be left alone - she needs constant care and help. The only ones working are my brother and I, and we cannot hope to cover all the expenses related to my mom's illness. We ask for your help - $1, $5 - anything helps. Hi my name is Krista, I'm starting this fundraiser for my son Kota, who is having open heart surgery as I type this. I struggled with making this, its hard seeing any child like this, even harder when its my own. For those that dont know him, he is 3, and oh so full of life. He loves so big and cares so deep. He doesnt know a stranger just a new friend. Hes been battling an uphill battle his entire life. In and out of hospitals but still absolutely thrives. 

Kota is going to need full time care and a lot of therapy which is expensive. All of which will mean that I may not be able to work. He is most certainly worth it.
