<div>Our dear friends, the Stark family, are grieving the unexpected loss of their beloved father and husband after his cancer progressed quickly following an incredibly tough battle. Jim Stark was a proud, hardworking man who loved his family deeply and spent his life putting others before himself. As they navigate this heartbreaking loss, there are still many expenses and responsibilities that remain, including medical expenses, mortgage payments, taxes, household bills, and other financial loose ends that come after losing someone so important. Anyone who knew Jim knows he would never have wanted to ask for help, but so many people have asked what they can do to support the family during this difficult time. This fundraiser is simply a way for those who loved him to help ease some of the burden and show their support. <div>Hi! I’m Grace, and I am a student at Emerson College currently creating my senior thesis documentary! For my documentary, <strong>I am determined to memorialize a piece of history for my family and the community on the South Shore.</strong>

<div>This documentary is about the infamous Rexicana Ballroom that showcased many popular bands and performers from the '60s and '70s. People from all over traveled and attended concerts, events, proms, graduations, and clam bakes there. However, in 1978, the Rexicana was engulfed in flames, completely burned to the ground.

<div>The memories of the Rexicana live on in the minds of the ones who experienced it, but there is no physical memorial for it… until now.

<div>My inspiration:

<div>My grandfather, John Clancy, was the owner of the Rexicana. I have grown up hearing the stories surrounding this magical place.
</div>
<div>There is little to no information about the Rexicana and its fire online, so I would love to create something that sets the record straight and memorializes it.

Help Memorialize the Rexicana Ballroom

<div>On October 31, 2025, my brother Adam and his wife Jennifer welcomed their beautiful daughter, Penelope, into the world at just 27 weeks, 13 weeks early.

<div>Penelope entered the world in an incredible and rare way. She was delivered by C-section en caul, still completely surrounded by her amniotic sac, something very few families ever witness. From her very first moments, she showed just how strong and extraordinary she is.

<div>Since that day, their lives have been turned upside down.

<div>Jennifer has been out of work so she can be by Penelope’s side in the hospital every single day. Adam continues to work, but even his hours have slowed down as they try to balance life, bills, and spending as much time as possible with their daughter. Penelope has now been in the NICU for over 100 days. Each day brings new challenges, small victories, and continued hope.

<div>Our family knows the NICU all too well. We have walked those same halls, listened to the same monitors, and leaned on the same incredible nurses and doctors. We carry our sweet son in our hearts every day, and because of him, I understand both the strength it takes to fight and the love that grows in those hospital rooms. That experience has made it even more important to me to stand beside Adam and Jennifer in this season.

<div><strong>The financial strain has been overwhelming.</strong> Mounting medical bills, daily travel expenses, meals away from home, and living on one income have created a heavy burden. No family should have to choose between being at their baby’s bedside and worrying about how to pay the next bill.

Hope and Strength for Baby Penelope

On January 4, 2018, the Lawrence family’s lives dramatically changed. Nicole is 39 weeks pregnant with their first son, Cameron Joseph, and Gianna is so excited to be a big sister, but Chris is fighting for his life in the ICU at Brigham and Women’s with a long road ahead of him. Nicole’s maternity leave is unpaid and Chris is only receiving short term disability benefits. Taylor and I are hoping to raise money to help Nicole with rent, bills, groceries, and anything else that comes up during this time.  Any amount you can donate will help!<br /><br />The following is from Nicole’s instagram: <br />It's been 16 days since I've heard your voice...I watch all of our videos and stare at thousands of pictures of us through the years. January 4th our life changed. As we were looking forward to so many great things in 2018 we have been thrown into a life changing world wind...We have hit so many rock bottoms together but this is the hardest yet in the 11 years we've been together. As I watch you fight for your life, as I see you sedated on a breathing tube with tubes and wires coming out of everywhere fighting to breathe on your own, I stayed with you 24/7 around the clock for the first 10 days at south shore hospital and since I've transferred you to Boston I'm there everyday by your side praying for you to make a full recovery. We've had our share of ups and downs a lot of all arounds but in the end we are a unit, a team and We never loose faith in eachother or our life. Knowing you hadn't felt good in awhile and wanted to turn our life more positive I hate watching you suffer but i know deep in my heart and soul you will make it through this. You are the strongest man I've known and no matter what has happened in our life I know you will fight for our family to pull through and make a full recovery. We have all our family and friends praying and hoping that you make a full recovery. This is a life changer but im hoping it's a blessing in disguise. For a brighter future for our family, When you recover from all of this I am hoping to look back and realize that you needed to hit the absolute worst to live your absolute best life. I'll never leave your side and I will be there every step it takes to get us back on our feet and enjoy life with our amazing family we have built. We were supposed to have cam on 1/23 and I have been fortunate enough to be able to push the date out until 1/31 to give you time to heal your body. I know this is just another bump in the road and it will make us stronger than ever...I love you Christopher Joseph. Just keeping fighting the good fight and we will see brighter days, Gianna and I need our man home. <br />Nicole goes on to say that Chris has necrotic pancreatitis and ARDS and all of his organs shut down. He’s been fighting for his life for 2 weeks.
