<div>As a club, our Board is starting this fundraiser for COVC and for a scholarship fund in Megan Lambert’s name, with Megan’s family’s blessing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A school shooting at Silver Rail Elementary took the life of teacher and coach Megan Lambert. We would rather be announcing Megan on our coaching staff as we prepare for the season, but this year Megan’s role is different. Megan will always have a role in our club.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This scholarship reflects something Megan cared deeply about. In Megan’s first year coaching volleyball, Megan did not want to be paid. Megan wanted that money to go to athletes who could not afford to play. That generosity and care for others is exactly why we are creating this fund: to keep Megan’s legacy alive and to give athletes the opportunity to play volleyball when cost might otherwise stand in the way.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Donations to this scholarship fund will help cover COVC club volleyball fees for athletes who may not be able to afford to play. Because this need will continue over time, recurring donations can help make sure more athletes have that opportunity in Megan’s name season after season. One-time gifts are also deeply appreciated and will make an immediate difference.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you feel led to help, please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Thank you for helping honor Megan Lambert through the kindness, opportunity, and love for athletes that meant so much to Megan.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This GoFundMe is an addition and in conjunction with the Seed Fund that Megan’s family is creating around another of Megan’s passions, helping children with mental health needs. We share this with deep respect so supporters can understand the purpose of this fund and the different ways Megan’s legacy is being honored.

Megan Lambert Volleyball Scholarship

<div>Carlos was a devoted husband, loving father of three, and a loyal friend who would do anything for anyone. His kindness and generosity touched countless lives, and everyone who knew him remembers his gentle spirit and willingness to help others. Tragically, Carlos lost his life in the Bite of Seattle shooting while spending time with his loved ones. His sudden passing has left his family heartbroken and facing an uncertain future.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div> As the primary provider for his family, Carlos leaves behind his wife Sandra and three children, who now face funeral expenses and the financial challenges of moving forward without him. The funds raised through this campaign will help cover their day-to-day needs and the costs associated with laying Carlos to rest. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference for his family as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div> If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Your kindness, prayers, and support will help Carlos’s family find strength and hope as they honor his memory and begin to heal. Thank you for standing with them during this heartbreaking moment.
</div>

In Loving Memory of Carlos

<div>It’s with shattered hearts that we share the sudden and devastating loss of our beloved Maggie Larimer-Atkins. Her passing was unexpected and has left a deep, painful void in the lives of everyone who knew and loved her especially her husband and children, who were her entire world.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Maggie was truly one of a kind. She had a light in her that could brighten the darkest room, and a spirit that lifted up everyone lucky enough to know her. She didn’t just smile she glowed. She loved hard, laughed freely, and always, always saw the good in people, even when life was hard. Her positivity wasn’t just something you noticed it was something you felt.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But more than anything, she was a mother. A devoted, selfless, fiercely loving mother. Her children were her heart, and she poured every ounce of her being into making sure they felt safe, loved, and supported. Everything she did every sacrifice, every late night practice, every deep breath she took on hard days was for them.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, they are facing the unimaginable, a world without their mom. We cannot take away their pain, but we can wrap them in love and support in the same way she would have for any of us. "Family is who you chose to love" is something she often said and was also something she practiced daily. She truly made each person feel like they mattered and if she chose to love you you were family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are raising funds to help cover funeral costs, support her children’s care and needs, and ease the financial stress her family is now carrying. No child should have to face a future without their parent, and no family should have to go through this heartbreak alone.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you’re able to give, please know that any amount big or small will make a difference. If you’re not in a place to donate, sharing this and sending prayers or messages of support means the world.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for helping us honor the life of a woman who was truly irreplaceable a light in our lives, a rock for her kids, and a soul that made this world a better place just by being in it.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With love and deep gratitude,

<div>Dear friends and family,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We’re reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits to ask for help in supporting the newest member of our family, Jovie Oakes. On April 16th, 2025, Gabriel, Liz, and their three young daughters, Marlee, Graycen, and Tatum, welcomed Jovie into their beautiful family. Shortly after her birth, Jovie was unexpectedly diagnosed with severe aortic valve stenosis and borderline Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. She was immediately transferred to UCSF in Oakland, where she underwent her first heart procedure. Unfortunately, her heart continued to fail and her condition continued to deteriorate. During this time, Liz and Gabe humbly asked for one thing - Prayers for Jovie.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The entire medical team studied her case, and came to the conclusion that she needed a complex surgery at UCSF in San Francisco. In her doctor's words, "She's a healthy baby girl, she just has a broken heart." At just 1 week old, she was transferred to UCSF Benioff in SF where she underwent a life-saving open heart surgery. Approximately 15 hours later, and what seemed like a lifetime, Liz and Gabe were reunited with their baby girl.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Jovie remains in the Children’s Cardiac ICU, in critical condition, and has an extremely long road to recovery. She has consistently proven her strength and determination to get home to her sisters, and we are praying that she continues to make progress each day. She is the definition of a Heart Warrior, and has the biggest army of people who love her beyond measure.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This has been an extremely emotional and exhausting time for Liz and Gabe, and we all wish that we could take their pain and heartbreak away as they watch their baby heal. They have been overwhelmed with all of the love and support they have received in the last 2 weeks, and it has given them the strength that they need to get through this together.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We know that Gabriel and Liz would never ask for donations, however, Gabe has taken time away from his job as an Alameda County Firefighter. They have had to temporarily relocate to SF while continuing to raise their 3 older daughters and support Jovie in the hospital. As their family, we are asking you to join us in supporting them, whether through donation, prayer, or simply sharing their story.

Prayers and Support for Baby Jovie: Our Little Heart Warrior

As many of you have already heard, Shannon Welch lost her battle with cancer. She put up an amazing effing fight over the past 4 years. She didn't let her diagnosis drag her down. In fact, she stood up to be the best mother, wife, provider, and friend I have ever seen. I know that you can all attest to that.<br /><br />Now is the time for us to show our support for Matt, Emma, and Addy, by providing financial assistance. They shouldn't have to worry about memorial costs, or Emma's UW expenses, or anything but trying to adjust to her loss.<br /><br />The second part is to carry on her legacy. Learn to knit, watch a scary movie with your kids, buy Girl Scout cookies, read a banned book, dress up like Harry Potter, take a ferry to Whidbey Island, travel to Europe, volunteer at your local elementary school, or just hug one of her friends or family. If you experienced any of these amazing moments with Shannon, please contribute now.

Jodi Cohen Franklin recently went through what could only be described as a harrowing and terrifying medical ordeal.  Beginning in March, Jodi  - an otherwise healthy 35 year old wife and mother of two - was hospitalized in the ICU for weeks on end with with uncontrollable seizures and other terrifying symptoms.   It was a scary time for Jodi and her family and friends.  As part of Jodi's treatment she was placed in a medically induced coma, given a feeding tube, and placed in isolation at two different hospitals. <br /><br />Luckily, Jodi is now home with her husband Greg and their two children.  However, Jodi has a long road to recovery ahead of her.  The aftermath of constant medical procedures and varying drug combinations has taken its toll on Jodi - both physically and mentally.  Jodi and her family must now contend with medical bills, childcare challenges, and uncertainty around future expenses - while at the same time making sure that Jodi is in the best position to recuperate and get better. <br /><br />We're looking to raise funds for the Franklin family so that they have a little peace of mind now and in the immediate future.  Jodi and Greg would not be the type of family that would typically ask for donations - they're usually the ones who are donating! Because of this we've put a GoFundMe together on their behalf.   <strong>We hope you can help.<br /><br /><br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/47792356_1589220921796178_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="47792356_1589220921796178_r.jpeg" /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/47792356_1589220966863177_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="47792356_1589220966863177_r.jpeg" /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/47792356_1589220982344815_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="47792356_1589220982344815_r.jpeg" /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/47792356_1589220997397159_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="47792356_1589220997397159_r.jpeg" /><br /></strong>

Recovery and Relief for Jodi Franklin

Stacey Rosales

<div>On Sunday, July 26, tragedy struck at Bite of Seattle when a mass shooting claimed the life of <strong>Ashley</strong> <strong>Whitehead</strong>, a lover of life, art and family. Ashley was waiting in line for cotton candy, enjoying the festival with her daughter, <strong>Zoie</strong>, and future son-in-law, Ben, when the violence began. She was shot and, despite surviving long enough to exchange heartfelt 'I love you's with her eldest daughter, passed away during surgery at Harborview. Family was everything to Ashley—she had recently moved to the west coast from Alabama to be closer to Zoie, while her younger daughter, Celeste, currently lives in Virginia.

</div>

<div>

</div>

<div> This is the second time tragedy has struck Zoie. In 2018, she lost her partner of seven years, my brother Michael, to heart failure. I’ve always referred to Zoie as my sister-in-law, and my kids call her Aunt Zoie. Zoie will be the sole benefactor of any funds donated, and will use the funds to support herself and her family as needed in the coming months. Donations to this fundraiser will help cover bereavement services, living expenses (as Ashley contributed to the household), and support Zoie and Ben as they cope with the trauma of surviving such a horrific event.

</div>

<div>

</div>

<div> We are reaching out to the community for help. Any support you can offer—whether through donations or sharing this fundraiser—will make a meaningful difference for Zoie and Ben as they navigate the aftermath of Ashley’s passing and the trauma of the mass shooting. Thank you for standing with them during this heartbreaking time.
