<div>On the night of September 14, our five-year-old Golden Retriever Stevie was hit by a reckless motorcycle driver who was speeding in our neighborhood right in front of our home. The motorcycle driver hit her and kept on going. Stevie immediately fell to the ground and collapsed. She suffered several injuries. We took her to the hospital a little far away from our home as nothing was open that night in Orlando. They immediately took her into surgery, they told us there was a chance she could make it if they would take her to surgery right away. We decided as a family that we needed to give her a chance to live and with advice from the Vet doctors (because she is only five years old). Stevie is currently recovering well but her recovery is going to take some time.

<div>She is recovering from several broken rib fractures, they had to remove a small piece of her lung because her lung was punctured during the accident. This girl is a fighter. Stevie is like our child. We love her very much. She is smart, cute, and very obedient. Ever since this tragic accident happened, I have received many messages asking how they can help. At the time of her accident, I was not able to answer everyone and couldn't wrap my head around why someone would hit a dog and leave, especially when my daughter was crying for help. Stevie’s surgery bills have been covered but she will have a lot of doctor visits and therapy for a few months until she gains her strength back. I thank everyone for all your prayers, support, and messages. If you are a dog owner or dog lover, I am sure you can relate.

<div>CityKitty has been hard at work rescuing cats in need around Minneapolis this Spring/Summer. In the month of July alone, we've rescued over 30 kittens and cats. As a reminder, we are an independent rescue with hopes of one day becoming an official non-profit. We rely on community support for funding and fostering the animals in our care. This kitten season has been the toughest of the last several years. Long-term impacts of the pandemic, the housing crisis, inflation, and generational poverty have greatly impacted the numbers of abandoned, stray, and feral cats we see on the streets. We are tagged in online posts daily with pleas for help with cats around Minneapolis.

<div>We have also had several setbacks this year. Just this weekend, one of our traps was stolen. Last month, our game camera, which we rely on to monitor cats outdoors, was stolen. We have also recently helped care for several cats in dire medical conditions, which comes with large medical bills.

<div>Dear friends, family &amp; community, as many of you know, Amy has been battling late stage metastatic breast cancer since December 2021. Since then, she has undergone numerous, very aggressive treatments including harsh chemotherapy.

<div>It has been physically and emotionally devastating for her, her fiancé Kyle, and their son Nolan. At 35 years old, our sweet, energetic, caring Amy has had to suffer through something absolutely no one should have to experience at such a young age.

<div>Another recent heartbreaking event is the cancellation of their wedding that was scheduled for this weekend, due to Amy's current condition. They unfortunately lost several deposits amounting into the thousands of dollars.

<div>Kyle is also seeking to legally adopt Nolan, and there are significant legal costs involved in that.
</div>

<div>On Thursday, April 13, 2023, my nephew Ralph P Yarl was on his way to pick up his twin younger brothers from their friend's house a few blocks away from his house. He didn't have his phone. He mistakenly went to the wrong house, one block away from the house where his siblings were. He pulled into the driveway and rang the doorbell. The man in the home opened the door, looked my nephew in the eye, and shot him in the head. My nephew fell to the ground, and the man shot him again. Ralph was then able to get up and run to the neighbor's house, looking for help.

<div>Unfortunately, he had to run to 3 different homes before someone finally agreed to help him after he was told to lie on the ground with his hands up.
</div>

<div>Ralph Pual Yarl is a fantastic kid, and I am not just saying this because he is my nephew. He truly is. At school, he is a member of the Technology Student Association and Science Olympia Team. Jazz and competition band. He is a section leader in the marching band; a scholar and one of the top bass clarinet players in Missouri. He recently earned Missouri All-State Band recognition with an honorable mention. He plays multiple instruments in the metropolitan youth orchestra. He is a 2022 Missouri scholar academy alumni. Ralph can often be found with a musical instrument. He loves them all.

<div>Last summer, Ralph attended Missouri Scholar’s Academy, where he got a full college life experience. His goal is to attend Texas A&amp;M to major in chemical Engineering. When asked how he plans to get into this university, he said, “Well, if they have a scholarship for music or academics, I know I can get it.”

<div>Ralph's teacher and friends describe him as “ a kind soul,” “quiet,” “friendly,” “well-mannered,” “always willing to help,” “super smart,” and a “musical genius.”

</div>

<div>Life looks a lot different right now. Even though he is doing well physically, he has a long road ahead mentally and emotionally. The trauma that he has to endure and survive is unimaginable. He is our miracle. We have heard these types of stories many times, and unfortunately, most black boys are not alive to get another chance.

He is hardworking and dedicated to his family-run lawn care and snow business, where he previously worked every day. No matter what your relationship is with Brad, you know that he is genuine, generous, and someone who would not hesitate to give you the shirt off his back.

Sean, who suffers from a traumatic brain injury, PTSD, and chronic pain after bomb, the first of eight; exploded while he was dismantling it in Iraq, spent 6 days in jail. A year later, under threat of again spending a months or longer in jail if he wanted to go to trial, he pled guilty and was sentenced to five years’ probation but not before they spent another 6 days in Pickens County Jail. The charges against Eboni were dismissed.<br /><br />The Worsleys moved to Arizona and Sean attempted to comply with probation, but homelessness, lack of money, and the differences between Arizona and Alabama’s marijuana laws made that impossible. At one especially low point, Sean went to the Phoenix VA to get the drug treatment the Alabama judge had sentenced him to, only to be sent away because he had a legal prescription for medical marijuana and did not, in the eyes of the VA, have a drug problem.<br /><br />In 2020, as the pandemic bore down on America, Sean was arrested in Phoenix on the heels of Eboni having emergency open heart surgery. During a routine traffic stop, Sean was extradited to Alabama for violating his probation. He spent the better part of a year behind bars, including a time in Alabama’s deadly prisons which are being sued by the Department of Justice for violating prisoners’ rights under the Eighth Amendment. Alabama corrections officers hacked off Sean’s long hair, a symbol of his religious beliefs.<br /><br />Sean's <a href="https://www.alabamaappleseed.org/marijuana-reform/thrown-away/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">story</a> was upifted by Alabama Appleseed and again by <a href="https://fb.watch/8bqvdYHjfG/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">PBS NOVA</a>  as a lesson on the terrible consequences of the War on Drugs.<br /> <br /><strong>Hope -- then a devastating loss</strong><br /><br />Sean was paroled in Nov. 2020 and moved to California with Eboni to start a new life. But their Alabama experience keeps dragging them down. In late 2020, Eboni was thrilled to learn she was pregnant. But pre-existing conditions that are common among Black women who have experienced the type of trauma the Worlseys have been through meant that her pregnancy was high risk. Alabama’s social safety net is threadbare and Eboni was unable to access affordable prenatal care. <strong>Soon after they moved to California, the Worsley’s son, Kalem Uzzaiah, was stillborn. Eboni almost died.</strong><br /><br /> All of this injustice and grief comes with a price tag: Tens of thousands of dollars in bail bond fees, probation and assessment fees high-interest title and payday loans, fines, fees, and court costs, medical bills. The arrest and conviction ruined the Worsleys’ credit, thwarting access to safe housing, credit, or opportunities to thrive. Eboni struggles to find work because background checks still show the charges lodged against her in Alabama, even though they were dropped as meritless. <br /><br />Alabama has moved on and moved up: Sean’s story was even cited in a 2021 legislative discussion was one of the reasons Alabama needed to at long last legalize medical marijuana. <strong>But the Worsleys are still mired in a trap that Alabama set for them.</strong> The have spent months trying to find their footing in California, but they need help. Sean’s probation will end at Christmas and the Worsleys need help to make a fresh start. Please donate if you can.

Churchill said it best: “If you’re going through hell, keep going.” Lisa was dealt a lousy hand during an awful time and she kept going. I know she will come out the other end of all this shining. She’s raising 2 boys and pursuing a Master’s for God’s sake! Lisa is now the sole beneficiary of the funds and has complete control. This person is a seasoned grifter and has done this very same thing to other people in the West Village and beyond, using her maiden name (Kate Gladstone), and has also been indicted on felonies and arrested for violating protection orders under her legal married name (Katherine Klein). Because of the coronavirus blanket eviction moratorium this grifter was awarded a Housing court order allowing her to come back into Heidi’s small apartment, even though the grifter left for over two weeks with no word in July. The judge is allowing this grifter to endanger Heidi’s life further! <br /><br />Heidi  has spent all her money and energy in the past year fighting this squatter and now has lost her job due to the pandemic,  has had to borrow thousands of dollars for legal fees, and is literally down to a skeleton weekly budget for basic bills and food while she tries to protect her home. Help A Neighbor Victimized by a Grifter

In 2018 Deb was diagnosed with <a href="https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/triple-negative-breast-cancer">Triple Negative breast cancer.</a>  After her lumpectomy, Deb endured radiation and chemotherapy and hoped to be found free of symptoms. Unfortunately her most recent scans showed the cancer had metastasized to her lungs and her new diagnosis is stage 4 breast cancer. As part of her treatment, Deb will be traveling to Chicago for three days at a time, every other week for a clinical trial involving chemo and immunotherapy. In addition, under the care of molecular biology oncologist <a href="https://lavalleymdprotocols.com/about-william-lavalley-md/">Dr William LaValley</a> , Deb will be doing complementary therapies with various nutritional supplements; plus high dose IV vitamin C, and hopes to add ozone therapy.<br /><br />Who is more fun than Deb? No-one! She is the wise advice-giving, dirty-dancing, Christmas party throwing, sailboat sailor, adventurer, world traveling,  happy hour hostess with the mostess. Plus she's smart and loyal and would do anything for anyone. In everything she does, whether working with students and colleges, or advocating for her family, or hanging with friends, Deb always gives 110%. She is doing the same with her fight against cancer - focusing on qigong, exercise and nutrition,  and along with husband Mike,  researching all the latest trials, options and resources available. Just as she gave up nights, weekends and holidays for the clients she so loved, she is now turning that force of energy to her own healing journey. Support Deb's Cancer Journey

My name is Dylan Garcia and I am currently trying to support my 3 kids with the help of my fiancé Jessica Lusk. We have a 6 year old son named Elijah, a 5 year old daughter named Isabella, and 3 year old daughter named Brandi. Brandi was born with an extremely rare terminal illness in which there are only about 30 cases reported in the entire world. Brandi's terminal illness is called Carnitine AcylCarnitine Translocase Deficiency, also known as CACT. People with CACT are unable to breakdown fats into energy in which is needed for the body to function causing the unused fatty acids to build up in her body. Children with this normally do not make it past infancy! With that being said, Brandi, died on her mother's chest at approximately 15 hours after birth which resulted in many nurse's and doctors performing CPR. lt took over an hour to bring her back to life. As a result Brandi has severe brain damage, seizures, and a compromised immune system along with other complications. Jessica and I spent 2 unbearably long months having to see Brandi stuck on life support while doctors ran tests and treated her for liver failure with dialysis. At 62 days old after multiple brain scans and tests, we got an official diagnosis. Doctors told us that she was not expected to live longer than a month. The doctors pressured us to remove her from life support immediately and stated that she would be a burden on us if we kept her on life support for the rest of her life in a vegetative state being that we have 2 healthy kids at home. We decided to remove life support as we did not want her to live in pain. Once life support was removed she did not die, instead she only required oxygen. By some miracle she was able to breath completely on her own and oxygen was removed! She slowly got better over the next month and we were told that it would now be safe to take her home on the condition she was placed on hospice. Although she had recovered enough to leave the hospital she was still far from being healthy. Luckily Medicaid not only provided the medications and equipment they also paid for private duty nursing to help us take care of her at home. Not only does she have a strict diet due to her condition making it impossible for her to process high-chained fat, she will never recover from forcing her to be fed through a G-Tube for the rest of her life. She also needs many different medications given multiple times daily to help her body function correctly and with massive brain damage we were told that even if she doesn't die that they are not sure if she would be able to even walk, talk, move, or do anything at all. Finally, after 3 years she is actually learning to walk and speak a few words. We know her condition will never go away and she will never be completely normal and with the possibility of her body shutting down again always in the back of our mind we were hopeful thinking that things would be ok. Now everything's gone back to the way it was before with us being in constant fear of losing her to covid19. We stay in Dallas wich is not only a city crowded with people but it's also one of the worlds highest covid19 cases. With Brandi's condition and weak immune system it's not only easier for her to get sick but it's also more fatal because her body would be to weak to fight off the virus if exposed. Due to the fear of her getting sick again my fiancè and I have had to quit our jobs, put our older kids in homeschool and are prisoners in our own home. We had hoped this covid19 situation would pass or atleast get better but it hasn't and we now owe thousands in debt and will be evicted by January 1, 2021 if we can't come up with the money owed. With Brandi's condition it will be impossible for us to go to a homeless shelter as it's a major risk to her safety &amp; we have nowhere to go to. While many people are going around shopping for Christmas things we are trying to find a way to keep our kid safe &amp; pay our bills that continue to accumulate.
