My husband and I had to move from Utah back to Wyoming because of my husband’s struggle with alcoholism. We ended up needing to live in my husband‘s parents (my in-laws) basement until we were back on our feet . My husband went to rehab for his alcoholism and I’m so beyond proud of him and the work he’s doing, but he’s 2 hours away and does not have any income yet. Unfortunately the week he left for treatment, his parents, my in-laws kicked me out alone, with no real explanation as to why, with no money and no way to grab my possessions. I am currently living in a shelter and cannot afford money for gas, food, or desperately needed prescription medications. I unfortunately struggle with multiple chronic illnesses including Post Treatment Lyme Syndrome or better known as Chronic Lyme disease, as well as Complex Regional Pain Disorder which is supposedly one of the most painful conditions the human body can experience. I do have a full-time job, but it only covers so much, and my job does not offer health insurance as we are a nonprofit organization helping at risk youth that receives funding through grants. I have been struggling to choose between eating or trying to pay for my desperately needed medication, and currently, I am missing days of work because I can’t afford the prescriptions I need to recover from RSV. I unfortunately do not have family to help. My parents have both passed, and my brothers are struggling with active addiction and money/legal problems themselves. The people I work with have treated me more like family and have helped when they can and I am beyond grateful for them. But they have their own families and bills to take care of which is what finally pushed me to start this GoFundMe. A few small donations could add up rather quickly. I am working with multiple different organizations throughout town which has helped to keep a roof over my head instead living in my car. Evanston is a small town though and there’s only so many social resources available. The funds from this fundraiser would first go towards my prescriptions so I can get healthy and return to work. Next, I would use the support to buy groceries and gas to keep me getting to work as well as other appointments I have with services around town. Whatever is left over will be saved to help me afford my own apartment and cover application fees. I am determined to get back on my feet and find a safe place to live so I can continue doing what I love, helping others! I give a lot to my community, first with my job helping at risk youth at YAHA, to planning and putting on sober events for the entire community as well as taking Narcotics Anonymous meetings into the jail. I strongly believe in helping this community and helping the people in it. I truly believe people have genuine goodness within them, and that life sometimes causes us to protect our hearts. All I want to do in life is heal and love others so they don’t have to protect their hearts so much. I know money is tight for everyone right now and I wouldn’t ask if I wasn’t desperate. And anything sent my way would be appreciated more than I could explain through simple words. But I can guarantee that my actions would demonstrate my immense gratitude! I would make sure that any donation that comes my way would be used for good and will help me continue my mission of helping, healing and loving others.
