Our beloved Betty recently suffered a severe stroke and is currently in physical therapy at the Premier facility in Onslow County, fighting every day to regain strength and recover. Medicare will only pay for the first 20 days of her rehabilitation, and after that, there is a significant daily copay. The length of her recovery is unknown and depends on how she responds to physical therapy.
Anyone who truly knows Betty knows she would never want to burden anyone with her struggles or ask others for help herself. In fact, she would probably hate knowing we are asking for financial help on her behalf. Betty is a woman of great independence, strength, pride, and dignity. She has always been the helper, the caregiver, the listener, and the one quietly taking care of everyone else without ever asking for anything in return.
Her husband Arthur, who has been by her side for over 30 years, is a retired school teacher and is now 88 years old. As much as he wishes he could personally provide 24-hour care for Betty, he is physically unable to do so alone. That is why our family is humbly reaching out for help during this incredibly difficult time. We are asking for any financial support, prayers, or shares to help Betty continue receiving the care and rehabilitation she needs. Every donation — no matter the amount — will go directly toward physical therapy and rehabilitation, medical-related expenses, continued long-term care, and family travel and support expenses.
Betty is deeply thankful for her family’s love and support, and for those who have been by her side, advocating for her, and watching over Arthur. She truly lights up when her family visits her at the facility, and the time spent together is something she can never forget. Most importantly, we want Betty surrounded by love, dignity, comfort, and the opportunity to continue fighting toward recovery. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, prayers, and support for Betty and our family.
