I want to give my family something beautiful before they're gone. My mum has spent her whole life surviving. Married at 15, disowned by her family, and married into abuse, she has spent decades giving everything to others. Every time she built someone up, supported their dreams, encouraged them to succeed, she was left behind to start again. And she always rebuilt. Out of all her children, only my sister and I are left. Between us, we have five children, and together with our mum, we are nine people living in a small two-bedroom home, stretching every dollar to simply exist. Both my mum and my sister have recently been diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease. I won’t share details to respect their privacy, but it reminds us how fragile health and time can be. Their dream has always been simple! to see snow, experience something magical, and for my mum, to one day have land, animals, a vegetable garden, and her family around her in peace. Life hasn’t given them the chance. I want to give them one memory of wonder, a trip to see snow and natural beauty, while health allows. Estimated Costs (for 9 people): Option 1: Driving from Brisbane to Snow Fields Car hire & fuel: $1,600 – $2,100 Accommodation (5–7 nights): $3,000 – $3,500 Food & groceries: $800 – $1,000 Snow gear & activities: $1,000 – $1,200 Total: $6,400 – $7,800 Option 2: Flying to New Zealand Flights: $7,500 – $9,000 Accommodation: $3,500 – $4,500 Food & groceries: $1,500 – $2,000 Local transport & snow gear: $1,500 – $2,200 Total: $14,500 – $18,400 Any funds beyond the trip will go toward my mum’s lifelong dream of land, animals, and a peaceful home for our family, a life she has always deserved but never had the chance to build.
