I’m a stepfather of three and Pawpaw to my granddaughter Destiny, who passed away at the age of six. Working hard every day in various kitchens, cooking has always been my passion. Recently, I moved my family from Mississippi to Texas for a better life. Destiny was autistic and incredibly smart—our bond was like no other. She inspired me to work harder and become a better person, knowing she was always watching and learning from me. We always kept God first, and every night, Destiny would join her grandmother and mother in prayer, folding her hands in her own special way. She loved watching her favorite shows on her tablet, especially 'The Princess and the Frog.' In that movie, the little girl’s father passes away, and she opens a restaurant in his memory. That story resonated with us because Destiny and I would cook together in the kitchen, her wearing her apron and helping me prepare meals. I always told her we’d get a food truck one day, and I even have videos of us cooking together. Before we could make that dream a reality, God called her home. Now, with the help of others, I want to honor Destiny’s memory by starting a food truck in her name. The funds raised will help me purchase a food truck, get the necessary permits, meet health code requirements, buy supplies, and support the people who work with me. I also want to partner with autism groups to host events for kids and families—serving food, offering face painting, gift bags, and support. It’s important to me that families know they’re not alone on this journey. I’m grateful for everyone who takes the time to read my story, even if they can’t donate. For those who do, thank you for helping my dream come true and for supporting a cause that means so much to me.
