<div>On February 10th, 2026, our close-knit community of Tumbler Ridge experienced a heartbreaking tragedy that has deeply affected many families. As we come together in grief and solidarity, it is clear that those impacted will need our support—not only emotionally but also financially—as they navigate the challenges ahead.

<div>We, as the parents on the The Tumbler Ridge Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), in collaboration with local TR organizations, has established this official GoFundMe to raise funds for the families who have been directly affected by this event. These funds will provide essential assistance such as covering unexpected expenses, supporting daily needs, and helping with any ongoing recovery efforts.

<div><span class="ql-cursor">﻿</span>All funds received this week are being directed immediately to support the urgent financial needs of the victims’ families. We have also reached out to the families of the two girls who remain in serious condition and are currently awaiting confirmation of their specific needs. Immediate support may include mortgage or rent payments, fuel and travel expenses, and costs associated with bringing loved ones in to be with family members, where necessary.

<div>As these urgent needs are met, funds will then be allocated to assist with funeral and burial arrangements as required. As we continue to understand each family’s needs, this will also include helping to support transportation to locations where families would like final resting places to be. After that, we will continue working closely with each family to address any longer-term needs they may have in the weeks and months ahead.

<div>Our primary goal has been to provide a secure, trusted place for our community to contribute collectively in support of these devastated families, ensuring they do not have to carry financial burdens during this incredibly difficult time.

<div>On November 26, my dear friend Tracy experienced a life-changing tragedy. While she was at work, a recalled household item malfunctioned and caught fire, destroying her entire home, everything she and her family owned was gone. Tracy and her two young children have been left with nothing she is a renter and tenants insurance won’t cover even 10% of her belongings

<div>Tracy had to walk away from her home and every memory inside it. Her children’s belongings, family photos, furniture, clothing, and essential supplies &amp; her insurance only covers a fraction of what she lost.

<div>One of Tracy’s children faces significant developmental challenges and requires additional care, support, and consistency in daily routines - all things that have been completely disrupted by this devastating loss. Tracy is an exceptional mother, patient and intuitive, always advocating fiercely for her son and ensuring he has what he needs to thrive. The sudden loss of their home has created challenges far beyond anything she could’ve imagined or prepared for, and Tracy is doing everything she can to keep her children safe, supported, and comforted through the turmoil.

<div>If you know Tracy, you know what an extraordinary human being she is. She is patient, gentle, generous, and has one of the kindest hearts you’ll ever encounter. As a single mother caring for two kids and her aging mom, she carries more on her shoulders than most - and still, she gives so much of herself to others.

<div>Tracy has spent much of her career working as a psychiatric nurse in harm reduction, providing compassionate, frontline care to people most affected by the housing and opioid crisis. She has supported countless individuals through their darkest moments, always showing up with empathy, respect, and unwavering dedication. Now, she is the one who needs community care.

<div>This fundraiser is to help Tracy and her family meet their most urgent needs - clothing, food, temporary housing, essentials for the kids, and eventually the ability to rebuild a home. They have lost literally everything, and every single donation will make an immediate difference.
