Laura is raising funds for Cory Graham, her boyfriend of 3 years, and for the family and loved ones who are now grieving this sudden and heartbreaking loss. Cory was an Army veteran who served in Iraq, a beloved father, brother, and friend, and someone whose gentle soul and sense of humor touched so many lives. At just 39 years old, only weeks before his 40th birthday, Cory was tragically killed during a police interaction that is now under investigation. His loved ones still do not have answers, and the pain of losing him so unexpectedly has been overwhelming. In the midst of that grief, they are trying to give Cory the dignified burial and military honors he deserves. Cory had been thriving in his sobriety journey and was attending Shining Light sober meetings. He had recently started a new job and was doing so well that he became a supervisor within just 2 months. He was building a life he was proud of, and the people around him saw his strength, kindness, and heart every day. While his veterans burial benefit will help with some funeral arrangements, it does not cover the casket, casket cover, embalming, the associated taxes, plus $350 for the church service at Central Church. Laura is asking for help so Cory can be laid to rest with dignity and honor. Any donation, no matter the size, will help ease this burden and show love for a man who meant so much to so many.
