<div>Argentinian racer Matias Petratti sustained severe injuries on Sunday, 16 July 2023 during the WERA event at Roebling Road Raceway. Petratti's Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R lost power during the C Superstock race start and another rider collided into the back of him. He was in critical condition and transported to the local hospital where he was immediately taken into surgery to address internal bleeding. He is currently in stable condition but has sustained multiple fractures, including his pelvis, scapula, leg, multiple ribs, and C1 and C7 vertebrae.

<div>Matias and his wife, Valeria, are visiting the U.S. on vacation and are far from home. We are reaching out to pull together friends, family, and the racing community to raise funds to help cover the significant medical expenses to support Matias in his recovery process and rehabilitation.

<div>Matias is a two-time champion of the 600 Argentine championships, has raced MotoAmerica with Tango Racing, and made his World SuperSport debut in 2021 at the San Juan Circuit with Yamaha MS Racing.

<div><em>Update 4 Aug 2023 2:58 pm</em>: Positive news to share! Matias has been released from the hospital and is being transported back to Miami, where he will be staying with friends and family for the remainder of his recovery. While there is still a long road of healing ahead, Matias’s prognosis is positive and he is able to recover in a more comfortable environment. Our thoughts and support continue for both Matias and Valeria during this difficult time. Once again, thank you to all who have supported Matias through donations and/or sharing his story. We can not thank you enough!

<div><em>Update 21 Jul 2023 10:44 am: </em>Matias is in stable condition. The primary focus at present is addressing the health of his lungs. He is currently undergoing treatment for pneumonia and will remain on the ventilator until his lungs heal enough that he can breathe unassisted. Additional surgeries are on hold until his lung health has improved. Medical staff have advised this will be a long healing process for Matias and he will likely need to remain in the hospital for an extended period of time during his recovery. For this reason, we have increased the donation goal, as these medical expenses will be significant. A huge thank you to all who have contributed to the fundraiser, provided support, and/or have helped spread the word for Matias and Valeria. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

<div><em>Update 18 Jul 2023 1:16 pm: </em> Matias had a successful second surgery yesterday to reset his pelvis. His lungs are bruised, he has 7 broken ribs, and he is heavily sedated to control pain, making it difficult to breathe on his own. He continues to stay on a ventilator post-surgery to assist in breathing. Additionally, radiographs revealed a large amount of fluid build-up in his lungs earlier today, which has been drained and is being monitored. He will likely continue on the ventilator for another 1-2 days until his lungs recover enough for him to breathe more comfortably on his own. Upon initial review, it is likely Matias will not need surgery on his spine (C1/C7) but will be confirmed upon further review. The doctors are currently keeping him sedated to help control pain. While Matias has experienced numerous bone fractures, good news was shared that he does not appear to have sustained any permanent injuries or nerve damage. We’ll continue to share updates as we know more. Thank you to everyone for their support and donations during this difficult time.

A process of continuous physical and mental changes very difficult and grateful in some words of coming back to life. Today I feel almost fully recovered I don't know how far I'm going to go or what my limit is going to be but as always I'm gonna put my all in to the max.”

Estuvo en condición crítica y fue transportado al hospital local inmediatamente donde estuvo bajo cirugía para tratar la hemorragia interna. Las cirugías adicionales están en espera hasta que su salud pulmonar haya mejorado. El personal médico ha informado que este será un largo proceso de curación para Matías y que probablemente deba permanecer en el hospital durante un período prolongado durante su recuperación. Por esta razón, hemos incrementado la meta de donación, ya que estos gastos médicos serán significativos. <div><em>Actualización 18 de Julio de 2023 1:16 pm</em>: Matías tuvo una segunda cirugía exitosa ayer para restablecer su pelvis. Sus pulmones están magullados, tiene 7 costillas rotas y está fuertemente sedado para controlar el dolor, lo que dificulta respirar por sí mismo. Continúa con un respirador después de la cirugía para ayudarlo a respirar. Además, las radiografías revelaron una gran cantidad de líquido acumulado en sus pulmones el día de hoy, que ha sido drenado y está siendo monitoreado. Es probable que continúe con el ventilador durante otros 1 o 2 días hasta que sus pulmones se recuperen lo suficiente como para que pueda respirar más cómodamente por sí mismo. Tras la revisión inicial, es probable que Matías no necesite cirugía en la columna (C1/C7), pero se confirmará tras una revisión adicional. Actualmente, los médicos lo mantienen sedado para ayudar a controlar el dolor.
