I met Rachel through the Buy Nothing group when she posted that she was in need of food for her 5 children. We have since become friends and she just needs a little community support.

<div>She is a single mom to 6 children (5 live with her). Two are autistic. She has stomach cancer, diabetes, and has been in and out of the hospital for the past 4 years. She used to be a bus driver for AC Transit before she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2007. The house they live in currently had toxic black mold recently in the kitchen from a leak in the upstairs bathroom, which took the housing authority months to fix. She is overwhelmed and is asking for help from the community.

Support Rachel: Cancer and Home Crisis

<div>People ask us all the time, “How’s business?” One answer is, “Business is great.” We have quadrupled our revenue since we bought the store. Our customer loyalty and engagement are as good as we could want.

<div>But we operate out of a nearly 100-year-old building. A lot of expensive-to-fix things broke this year. Worker’s comp and liability insurance have gone up dramatically. The extreme volatility in food prices has made it difficult to maintain our margins. In short, it’s been a challenge.

<div>You may have noticed persistent traffic disruptions on the bridge that so many of our customers use every day. We estimate that we lose up to $1,000 in sales for every day the bridge is blocked.
</div>

<div>During the current phase of the project, we expect daily traffic control and, on some days, complete bridge closure. In a business with margins as low as ours, these seemingly minor annoyances are slowly but surely draining our resources.

<div>On October 1st, we lost our beloved family members, Angel and Jayz, in a tragic and senseless act of violence.

<div>Angel was 15 years old. He was gentle soul, who loved and cared deeply for those around him. He was also a caring son, brother and friend. He was one who was always ready for a fun time, constantly carrying joy and laughter wherever he went.

<div>Jazy was 17 years old. He was the quieter of the two, who tended to naturally assume the role of protector. He was a funny and smart young man, who was curious and excited about learning, about going to college, and was focused on his future education plans. Importantly, he was a loving son, brother and friend.

<div>Our kids were taken too soon, and our family is distraught. They were 2 out of 6 kids. 13, 9, 6, and 3 years. They leave behind a single mother- who, due to grievance will be unable to return to work for an indefinite amount of time- and 4 younger siblings who all looked up and idolized them.

Family Help for 15 and 17 Year Old Sons

<p>Our sweet, sweet girl needs surgery to remove a very large malignant tumor on her upper jaw. Vet bills are piling up and we are still trying to figure out how to cover this upcoming surgery and then ongoing treatment. Your donations will help pay for this surgery and her recovery period.

Mona's surgery

<strong>On Saturday May 23rd there was a massive fire at Pier 45, the heart of the San Francisco fishing community was decimated . Building C is a complete loss and has collapsed. Building C was the storage shed for our local commercial Crab fishing fleet. It is estimated that they lost over 5 million dollars in uninsured Crab Pots. Most fishermen had well over 100k in gear lost. They are basically finished and a lifetime of work has gone up in smoke. In order to get these guys fishing again when the season reopens in November they will need to start placing Crab pot orders immediately. As Bay Area residents we all understand the importance of the Dungeness Crab industry.  These are small independent fishermen that are desperate right now and need our support. The funds raised here will ALL go towards replacing fishing gear for all those affected by the fire.</strong><br /><br />In order to insure the funds get to the right people I will be working off of a list of fishermen that have leased space and stored equipment at Pier 45 shed  C.  My plan is to either set up an account with a vendor with a payment from this fund  and give credits to the fishermen to order off of or if it is easier we may just place a large bulk order for them and pay the invoice from this fund.<br />Water2Table is a Seafood Wholesaler on Pier 45 and we are raising these funds to insure that the infrastructure and equipment is available to the fishermen for their upcoming season. That is why we are directing this effort towards purchasing gear for the affected fishermen  and not simply making cash payments. <br />We will also be consulting with GoFundMe to make sure we take all the necessary steps and protocols to ensure transparency and that we take all the proper steps. <br /><br />Joe and Andi Conte / Water2Table

Pier 45 Crab Fishermen Gear Fund

Please help fund thousands of face shields #PPE products for doctors, nurses and first responders nationwide who are out of supplies and keep skilled local fabricators from unemployment!<br /><br />We started as a network of moms in Alameda County who learned that our friends and family were going into work in local hospitals without necessary masks and face shields. We have grown this network to include volunteer project managers, sourcing specialists, logistics, fulfillment, and PR/Marketing professionals. Our fabricators and manufacturing partners are working at cost. <br /><br />We have sets of advanced prototypes at Kaiser and Sutter Health facilities, as well as an ambulance service in Alameda County. We hope to expand the number of hospitals we're serving as well as the number of shields we produce.<br /><br />Together we will use all raised money to purchase PET plastic and other materials necessary to make 10,000 face shields.
