<div>On Friday, June 2, 2023, Ajike "Aj" Owens, a devoted and loving mother of four, was tragically and unjustifiably murdered in an attempt to protect her children from racism and violence. Her mother is now left to raise her grandchildren. AJ's story is chronicled in the Netflix documentary The Perfect Neighbor.

<div>Ajike's children were playing in a field next to an Ocala apartment complex when an unidentified 58-year-old white woman reportedly began yelling at them and calling them racial slurs. The children left but accidentally left an iPad behind, which the woman took. When one of the children went to her residence to retrieve it, she threw it, hitting the boy and cracking the screen. After Ajike's children informed her of what happened, she walked across the street with her kids to speak with the woman. She knocked on the door, and at that point, the woman allegedly shot through the door, hitting Ajike, who later died from her injuries. The woman responsible has not yet been identified, arrested, or charged with anything by law enforcement.

<div>Ajike Owens (affectionately known as AJ) graciously affected all she came into contact with her infectious personality. She had a smile that would light up the room. But most of all, she was known for how much she loved and absolutely lived for her four children. To say she loved her children unconditionally is an understatement. She was a single mother whose life centered around her children. She was the Team Mom for her children’s football/cheerleading teams. She excelled professionally as a manager in the Restaurant/Hospitality industry. She was a devoted Christian who believed in bringing her kids up in a supportive Christian environment. After being a devoted mother, she was a devoted friend that took friendships to heart. There wasn’t anything that she wouldn’t do for those near and dear to her heart. She often would give to other single mothers that were in similar situations that she’d been in.

<div>Hello, my name is Sean Smith. Many locals in Winchester, and Frederick and surrounding counties here in Virginia are very familiar with my 9 German Shepherds, because I very seldom go anywhere without them. So they've kind of become celebrities in this area, and someone at Lowe's this evening said they're the most photographed dogs on social media. Even people that don't know me, video or photograph them in the parking lot of a store, on the road or even where I go to sing because they're amazed that they will not leave the truck for whatever length of time I want them to stay. They post them on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat. I've recently had some legal issues regarding 5 of them and at the advice of my attorney, he wanted me to limit what information I shared about the case on social media. I can say, that it has nothing to do with them hurting anyone but, it does have to do with a neighbor and family who has constantly tried to use his appointed position in the county to bully me and has tried to tell me what to do with my property since I moved in here. He used to own it. My dogs have been at the Esther Boyd Animal Shelter since June of last year and my case is not scheduled to be heard until March. I have visited them as often as possible and supply their food. All of the employees at the shelter are very fond of my dogs and take great care of them however, even with increasing their feeding to 3 times a day, three of them are not maintaining a good weight. These funds will be used for their legal defense. I've had a lot of community support, and it's been very heartwarming.  My dogs are like my family and I don't want to lose them. I'm even trying to refinance my home and losing my great interest rate to try to raise funds but, it's not happening fast enough. So, I'm asking for the community to help, and any help is very much appreciated!

THOR is mighty, but right now he needs your help //<br />We don’t know why, but somehow this tiny kitty was alone and wondering in the sweltering Oklahoma heat:  exhausted, scared, and dehydrated. A good Samaritan with numerous animals of her own gave comfort to our strong hero by providing food and water…hoping to gain his trust and find a way to save him, even after being stray for who knows how many days. <br />The next morning, as her husband started his truck to go to work, he shuttered as he heard the most horrible cry from the front of his truck. Somehow Mr Thor had wandered up to the truck and crawled into the engine. Thor’s face was cut, his tail damaged, and Both of his back legs were broken...literally shattered. <br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/22520250_1500966970.0682_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/22520250_1500968044.9643_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />They rushed him to Woodlake Animal Hospital, desperate to get him help. When Thor first came in, he had bones sticking out of the skin on both of his legs. Due to the extent of his injuries, they reached out to Bella for help. There was hope that since he is so young and strong, the legs could be cast and repair themselves. Even in what was seemingly unbearable pain, this tiny fighter showed kindness through his cries. Not angry at those trying to help, but somehow trying to communicate to them "Please don't leave me...I can push through this if you will help me". <br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/22520250_1500968611.4663_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />Unfortunately when they began that procedure it was discovered that both legs were worse than originally thought, and surgery was decided upon as the only possible shot for this strong little kitten, still joyful while in so much pain. <br /><br /><iframe media_type="0" media_id="WqUbrFQYgko" class="youtube-replace" title="YouTube video player" style="margin-bottom:20px;width:560px;height:315px;" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/WqUbrFQYgko/?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="1"></iframe><br />So now, a call for help is being launched into the universe and to you. We have conferred with multiple surgeons who feel that this strong little guy can have his legs repaired and make a full recovery.  The cost to do this is substantial, approximately $3000, but together we believe we can come alongside THOR and help him to continue saving Asgard, (and being a super awesome playful and loving cat) for many many years to come. But the reality is, we simply cannot do this without your help. Family, friends, neighbours and community of Anne Finney-Elie   Anne is a loving mother to three children, Maia (4yrs), 13 month old twins Nevan and Livia and she is a dedicated and supporting military wife to her husband Jason Elie. Even with their often chaotic life, Anne has always been quick to offer support to anyone and everyone who is in need of help, yet Anne is the last to ever ask for help herself.<br /><br />Right now Anne and her family are in need of prayers and support. Just over a week ago, Anne left her husband Jason and the kids at their post in Turkey for what was to be an overnight trip to Germany for a routine medical procedure. However, in return, she was unexpectedly diagnosed with a rare form of cancer which is requiring immediate surgery and treatment. Jason and the kids reunited with Anne in Landstul, Germany, where they currently await for her medivac back to the U.S.  There, Anne will receive treatment and care at the world class Walter Reed Hospital in Maryland, USA. And at this point in time, it is not known if Jason will be released from his overseas post to care for Anne and the children in Maryland. <br /><br />As Anne will need all the love and support to get through this next leg of her journey, the Elie-Finney family members from Canada and the U.S. are making preparations to set up a home in Maryland, to be there for Anne and Jason and to help care for their children during the difficult months ahead. <br /><br />I am a family friend and wanted to set up this Go Fund Me Account, so that Anne and Jason’s families can be together with them in their time of need. This account is intended to help assist the immediate family with travel and accommodation, to help ease the financial pressure.
