Cycle 300 Miles for American Cancer Society

<div>Thank you for checking out our page. We are Yessie Mastrantoni and Desiree Bordas, residents of Sea Cliff, Ny. We started this fundraiser for our beloved sister, Monica Schmucker, her husband Dustin and 2 beautiful children, Tessa and Silas, ages 9 and 4 respectively. The Schmucker family lived in Ft. Myers Beach for 6 years before it was devastated by Hurricane Ian. The Schmuckers not only lost almost everything they own, but also lost their community and entire way of life. According to reports, 90% of structures on Ft. Myers Beach are destroyed. The devastation is such that it will take years to rebuild. Dwellings and vehicles are scarce, not that there is money to obtain any. Their network of friends, who have always been unbelievably supportive of each other, are all in the same situation. Some are missing and sadly some lives lost. Insurance money will take time to acquire and almost certainly will not cover all the loss and cost of living. If you decide to help, please know that 100% of proceeds will go directly to the Schmucker family and the people they care about who have suffered the same tragic fate. <div>Hi, I'm Sabrina Figueroa. I'm 4 years old; when I was 6 months old, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Spinal Muscle Atrophy (SMA) and given a life expectancy of 2 years.

<div>Thanks to God and my parents and family's prayers and with the help of science, I've achieved results that no one expected. I receive physical, occupational, and nutritional therapies every day, which helped improve my evolution.

<div>My doctors recommend that I take the next big step in my rehabilitation process and travel to a Napa Rehabilitation Center in Los Angeles, California.
</div>

<div>The three-week intensive therapy process will help me start walking and reinforce feeding techniques to prevent me from aspirate that can result in a severe health condition.

<div>Since there are no local centers in Florida, where I live, that can offer this treatment, and since my health insurance will not cover these out-of-state treatments, I need your help and generosity to make this happen. My dream is to walk and have an everyday life, and I know I will be able to do it with God's help and your support.

<div>Hola, mi nombre es Sabrina Figueroa y tengo 4 años. Cuanto tenia 6 meses me diagnosticaron con una rara enfermedad de origen genetico llamada Atrofia Muscular Espinal Tipo 1 y me dieron un tiempo de vida de tan solo 2 años.

<div>Gracias a Dios y a las oraciones de mis padres y familiares, asi como a los adelantos en la ciencia, he logrado obtener avances muy esperanzadores. Recibo diariamente terapias física, ocupacional y de alimentación que tambien ha ayudado en mi evolución.

<div>Ahora, por recomendación de mis médicos, debo tomar el siguiente gran paso en mi proceso de rehabilitacion. Para ello debo viajar al Centro de Rehabilitación Napa en Los Angeles California, para un tratamiento intensivo de tres semanas cuya finalidad es mejorar las técnicas para poder empezar a caminar y reforzar técnicas de alimentación que evitaran que pueda hacer aspiraciones las cuales pondrian en grave riesgo mi salud.

<div>Lamentablemente no existen Centros como ese en Florida, donde yo recido, a los que pueda asitir y mi seguro de salud no cubre los gastos de este tipo de tratamientos fuera del Estado por lo que acudo a su ayuda y generosidad. Mi sueño es poder recibir esta rehabilitación y poder hacer una vida normal y lograr caminar, se que con Dios y su aporte lo vamos a lograr.
