Over the past 5 days Lennon has been doing so good!!! We are just amazed at all his progress, strength, willpower, and motivation to get stronger and back on track! He got to eat Friday evening for the 1st time!! He requested pancakes and that's what he got. Pureed pancakes with maple syrup and he ate every last bite of it! He has done very well keeping up with his caloric needs with the no chew diet. And he even got his nasal gastric tube removed on Sunday afternoon! Now we get to see that handsome boys face again, free from all the tubes! That was a huge relief for him! We go to the Child Life Center at Riley daily to play and do crafts. He picked out and beaded his own bracelet, which is amazing eye and hand coordination. He worked on a sand art project and created a Bear with the sand. He loved that! He has absolutely crushed physical and occupational therapy, and he has already met his long term goals with them. He will continue PT/OT to maintain his strength and progress that he has made. Speech therapy is definitely his main focus to help build his cognitive skills after his brain injury. He has trouble remembering certain things from the past, like the school building, friends, papaws camper, Raccoon Lake, and other things that were prominent to him before the accident. He is also having a hard time remembering what he has done on the current day. Neuropsych doc said that he will be followed closely with the Pediatric TBI clinic. The whole Riley therapy team is working with Clinton Prairie to plan a visit to school hopefully soon with Lennon to help inform the staff and students on Lennons injuries and how they may help Lennon succeed when he returns to school. This is such a wonderful idea, I love that❤️. Even though Lennon does not look physically injured, his brain is still injured, so he has some continued brain healing that needs to take place. He had a Grade 3 Diffuse Axonal Injury/severe traumatic brain injury. This could be permanent or it may take months to years to heal. Childrens brains are very neuroplastic. So fingers crossed that his brain heals like it needs. I'm sure with all the prayers, support, and positive thoughts coming his way.. Amazing things have and will continue to happen. We love you Lennon. Go Lennon Go
