Hello! My name is Chea and I am currently living in Los Angeles, California. I graduated with a degree in Anthropology last year and work at a market in the city. I am an artist, I love to garden, and spend time with my friends and family.  I met Ssuna online in April, when I saw one of his posts about the Children's Ministry he runs in the Wakiso district of Uganda, where he takes care of 55+ kids (a roof over their heads, food, care, attention, games, and school + medicine when funds allow). I became a monthly donor, and he invited me to have a call with him the kids, which was comforting as I know there are a lot of scams out there. Since then, we message daily and call about once a month. I helped start a gofundme for the ministry and we've raised over $2,000 in a couple of months! It's allowed Ssuna to get food on the table more consistently for the kids, and provide medicine for them when they get sick. Recently, a single mother came to Ssuna asking for help getting the word out about her 1-year old-baby, Blessing. Blessing was born without legs and with three fingers on each hand. She is quite the personality, and doesn't let her physical state stop her from being a happy, active, and silly baby like others her age. But, she also faces challenges because of her disability and requires more assistance with basic needs, like getting around and eating. Ssuna and I are starting this fundraiser to help raise money to get Blessing a wheelchair, more consistent medical check-ups, to make sure she is also always able to have access to food, medicine, housing, and care. Though her journey will not be easy, with love, support, and a community that believes in her, we believe Blessing can grow, thrive, and live a life full of possibilities.  Please take a moment to look at this page and share if you can!! I am organizing this fundrasier for my friend Ssuna who runs Glory Children's Ministry, a program that is currently taking care 53 orphaned children in the Wakiso district in Uganda. I want to gather these funds for Ssuna so that he and the children are able to eat balanced meals 3 times a day, purchase purified water dispensers, and eventually purchase land where they can grow their own food, have animals, have easy access to water, and build better housing for the children. They are currently renting housing in a village, so they do not have space to grow their own food and have to gather water from a local spring by hand and boil it for purification. Typical meals consist of rice, beans, maize, cabbage, and sometime meat (on Sundays, when they are able to afford it). COST BREAKDOWN (USD to UGX) $3 USD = Breakfast, lunch, and dinner for one child $170 = purified water dispenser $10,000 USD = 1 acre of land in the Wakiso District, Uganda Ssuna is only 25 years old, but has taken it upon himself to provide care for these children, after being an orphan himself . Any contribution, big or small is so helpful and will be used to get food, clean water, shelter, healthcare, and education for the children and the 3 staff members, including Ssuna who care for the children.
