<div>Hi everyone! Nikki and I are reaching out to support our dear friend, <strong>Wendy Massaro Ganci</strong>. On November 1, Wendy had her first ever seizure while at home. Thanks to the quick response of her son Tyler, 911 was called and she was rushed to the ER at UConn's John Dempsey Hospital. She continued to have unexplained seizures and they did multiple tests and scans to determine the cause. The results revealed a benign Meningioma Brain Tumor. A few days later, on November 5, Wendy underwent a craniotomy (brain surgery) to remove the large tumor pressing on her brain.

<div>After spending seven days in ICU, Wendy is now in a rehabilitation hospital as she had lost movement on her right side. 
</div>

<div>If you know Wendy, she is staying positive and believes in the power of prayer. With that being said, she has regained some mobility in her right arm; however, she is still unable to move her right leg and foot.

<div>We recognize that she had major surgery and are hoping with time, she will be able to walk on her own again.

Support Wendy's Recovery from Brain Surgery

On January 5th, 2021 a fire swept through the Oberreuter family home. Wayne and Cathy were asleep and escaped with only the clothes they were wearing. Married for fifty years. This devastating fire destroyed a lifetime of memories. Everything was lost including their beloved dog Tanner.<br /><br /><br />Unfortunately, this is not their only obstacle, since 2016 Cathy has been battling cancer. She is currently in the middle of her fight and this tragedy comes at an incredibly difficult time. <br /><br /><br />These funds will help Wayne and Cathy begin to rebuild their life and help to alleviate some of the  tremendous emotional stress and financial costs.<br /><br /><br />Wayne and Cathy have called  “the backcountry” home for almost 4 decades. This community is located in the East County of San Diego and holds a special place in their hearts.<br /><br /><br />Thank you for all the love, support, and generosity.

<p>The <strong>Dr. Ala Stanford Center for Health Equity (ASHE) held its GRAND OPENING TODAY!</strong><br /><a href="http://www.BDCCARES.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">www.BDCCARES.com</a> <br /><br />The Dr. Ala Stanford Center for Health Equity (ASHE) was formed in response to the needs of the underserved communities in Philadelphia, PA. ASHE was conceived from the experience of the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium (BDCC). BDCC was created in March 2020 in response to the disproportionate number of African-Americans being diagnosed and dying from coronavirus, and the lack of swift intervention to mitigate disease spread. The mission of BDCC is to educate, provide advocacy, and barrier-free coronavirus testing and vaccination in an effort to decrease the morbidity and mortality associated with the disease. BDCC has been integral in increasing the number of African-Americans vaccinated against coronavirus. In fact, Philadelphia has the highest percentage of vaccinations of African-Americans in any large urban area (City of Philadelphia, City Council Report, September 2021). We understood that a continuum of care and access to quality medical services was necessary in the midst of the pandemic and one that would extend long after the containment of COVID-19.<br /><br /><br />4/14/20<br /><a href="http://www.blackdoctorscovid19consortium.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">THANK YOU</a> <br />African Americans are being diagnosed at a disproportionately higher rate than other groups and are dying from coronavirus at a higher rate than other groups. To address that need, the <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2020-05-03/the-black-doctor-covid-19-consortium-video" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Black Doctors COVID19 Consortium</a> was born. We have built a mobile COVID-19 testing operation. Our goal with the mobile unit is to provide a testing alternative that is BARRIER FREE to test for coronavirus disease in our hardest-hit areas in Philadelphia.   <br /><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>All funds will go to cover the following expenses for 1-year:</strong></span><br />1. Van Transportation<br />2. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)<br />3. Educational Materials<br />4. Testing Supplies<br />5.  Staff support <br />6. PPE for those being tested<br />7. Supporting a sustainable program to improve health outcomes.<br /><br />We are testing for the virus with an FDA-approved system of nasal swabs and conducting antibody testing. We are also providing free flu shots and vaccinations.
