<div>I'm reaching out with a heavy heart but a hopeful spirit. Over the past 9 years, I’ve poured everything I had into becoming a social worker while earning my Master’s in Social Work and achieving my dream of serving the community I care so deeply about. But life has taken a painful and unexpected turn.

<div>Since May of 2023, I’ve been battling a debilitating and still somewhat mysterious illness that causes sudden, severe flare-ups of pain and mobility issues in my muscles and joints. In January and February of this year and previously, I experienced another episode which is why I decided to start the GoFundMe, but with treatment at that time I was able to return to work for a short time. Unfortunately, the disease has struck again and our regime is no longer working and this time, it’s more intense and prolonged.

<div>Doctors are still trying to pinpoint the full scope of my condition. So far, I’ve been seen at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and have made multiple trips to specialists in Duluth and Rochester. The newest possible diagnosis is Psoriatic arthritis, which we are waiting for my insurance to approve the treatment in hopes that these injections will help my symptoms. So far, the Mayo has diagnosed me with Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), fibromyalgia, and other autoimmune or neurological disorders.

<div>Since June 6th, I’ve been out of work again, with no income, and my days are filled with medical appointments and exhausting travel to seek answers. Being single and now no longer a partner to lean on, I am navigating this entirely on my own physically, emotionally, and financially. I did file a claim for long-term disability benefits that I bought last year and pay on, but the process is slow (up to three months or more) and there’s no certainty that I’ll be approved.

<div><strong>I’ve already been playing catch-up from earlier this year, and now I am truly at risk of losing everything I’ve worked so hard to build.</strong> It’s heartbreaking to be kept from doing the work I love, helping others because of my own health crisis.
