<div>Hi, my name is Jordan and I am starting this fundraiser to help my friends the Troy Family during a tough time. Their 5 year old daughter Cece Bea is currently recovering from a serious bout with pneumonia at Maine Medical Center. Her recovery is proving to be very slow and steady and the Troy's will need to focus their time and energy on being in Maine and being there for Cece during her recovery.

<div>The funds from this fundraiser will assist the Troys with the medical bills and everyday expenses while Cece and the Troys are at Maine Medical. If you know the Troys, you know that they are some of the sweetest and kindest folks out there. They are a staple of Dover and can normally be seen walking downtown while Cece says hi to everyone she comes across. This family is pure love and strength, but they could use our help right now. <div><span style="font-family:'-apple-system-body';">The Troy family could use our help during an extremely trying time for them.  Their daughter Cece has been very sick for the last 5 months and has been in and out of the hospital; she is currently at the hospital for her third stay since October. This has been a very difficilt situation for Ben and Jess, between the never ending medical bills and having to be out of work to take care of Cece and be there for her when she is in the hospital, it has put the Troys in a very trying financial situation.  Cece has been the strongest and toughest little kid in existence, however the hospital stays have done a number on her spirit and she has been sick so much that it has been recommended that she repeat kindergarten next year. </span><br />

<div> What makes this situation more difficult is that Ben and Jess’s lease is up in June and the apartment will become too expensive with soaring rental costs for them to keep living there. They are currently trying to find a new space and will more than likely need to move out of town to find affordable housing since Dover has become so expensive. This becomes difficult because Jess’s vehicle is not drivable and she is also currently looking for a safe new vehicle so she will be able to safely transport herself and Cece for doctors appointments, school, etc.

<div>This latest hospitalization has made it feel nearly impossible for the Troys to obtain what they need. Life has thrown them a very unfair curveball, and they are looking for a fresh start and I think we can all come together to help give them that. They are very grateful for any and all help that they have received and appreciate the support and love.<br />

<p><span style="font-size:1.0625rem;">Roots Vegan Cafe &amp; Juice Bar is a 100% plant-based &amp; woman-owned vegan cafe in Dover, NH.<br /><br />My small business means a lot to me. Talk to anyone who runs a business and they will tell you, every day is hard work, but always rewarding. We all have big dreams and hopes for the future. The space I would like to provide for the community is something I have been developing for over five years.<br /></span><br />This business is not something I opened because I thought it would make me a ton of money, or because it was something I already knew how to do, or because I had investors to tell me it was a good idea. I did it because I had an opportunity to create what I’ve always wanted to. My entire life I have been pushed forward by the compassion I feel for the earth, and for the plants and animals we share it with. When I was in college, they asked us “what is something unrelated to school you want to accomplish in the next 5-10 years?”. I wrote that I would love to publish a vegan cookbook so I could share the passion I have with everyone. During the summer, I worked for the juice shack that I would eventually purchase to transform a tiny corner of my hometown into my own version of heaven on earth. Every step of the way has been exhilarating and terrifying. I’ve learned to depend on myself in ways I never imagined. It’s also been humbling. I'm grateful for every experience, each employee and customer who taught me ways to be better along the way. Owning Roots has been an endlessly rewarding experience. I’m so proud of all the work I’ve put into this, and most especially for all the times I wanted to give up, when I told myself I had already failed, but I still pushed forward.

<p>I find myself in one of those times today. The pandemic has presented an ongoing set of challenges for restaurants, an industry that at times has always been a challenge to navigate. I began work on some big plans to bring Roots back from the depths many businesses have been buried under. Temporary cuts on hours of operation, out of stock inventory, less availability for human-to-human services. We are all treading water trying our best to make things work. My new ideas had me feeling inspired, hopeful and excited, knowing the future of my business depended on it. The federal grants ($ in the billions) being awarded to restaurants through the Restaurant Revitalization Fund this spring was always part of the equation, as we qualified for assistance that would make all the difference. Unfortunately, we were not given our awarded grant before the funds were depleted. Our application has been listed as “pending” for over two months. I was notified today that the grant program is now closed, and reps have told me there is nothing they will do about my unprocessed application.
</p>

<p>Without this assistance, I am unsure of how to proceed. I have to process this enormous let down, to think about how to move forward from this, if that is possible at all. I come to you humbly asking for help. The only way forward is with the funding we were relying on. If you are in any position to contribute financially to keep Roots going, you have my endless, eternal gratitude.<br /><br />With these funds, Roots can thrive. We had big plans to update the space, to begin expanding hours, grow our team, and build out a bar to offer a beer &amp; wine list along with an evening dinner menu. We want to continue to offer our plant-based food to the community for a long time, and with your help, we will!

Help To Keep Roots Growing!

I'm Elise Blake, a COVID-19 survivor, and I'm raising money to make Christmas brighter for the Healthcare Heroes that helped me fight the virus at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. <br /><span style="font-size:1.0625rem;"><br />COVID really got me, and after battling it at home for ten days the symptoms worsened and I couldn't get enough oxygen into my lungs. I was admitted to the ER and stayed in the hospital for a week. </span><br /><br />I'm still recovering at home, but the care team that helped me was so compassionate, and they work such long hours while exposed to the awful virus, so I hope to get gifts (in-kind donations) for them in time for Christmas. <br /><br />Please give $15 by next Monday, or whatever you can! <br /><br />Thank you for your support!!

On May 31, 2020 Kellie Brook Farm (a family owned and operated farm) had an accidental electrical fire that caused their red barn to burn down. Inside the barn was 7 chest freezers filled with product, their turkeys and farm equipment.

Thank you for taking the time to view my fundraising page. My name is Jack Carroll , I am 32 yrs old , I live in Southeastern New Hampshire and was raised in Southern Maine . <br />At the age of 3 , I contracted Ecoli which quickly led to a dangerous disease called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome . HUS attacks the bodies blood and blood vessels. I was rushed to Boston Childrens Hospital with my mother ( and best friend ) in an ambulance . There I was given multiple blood transfusions , because my own had turned completely toxic . They found out that in a matter of days since first contracting the Ecoli my kidneys had failed . I was placed on emergency dialysis and stayed there for multiple months. The dialysis helped my kidneys recover , yet they were still very scarred and weakened . <br />This event also led to the discovery that I was suffering from a rare genetic disorder . My mothers father died in the late 1960's only in his late twenties . He was sick many years  . The disease that he and his brothers had was discovered two years later in 1969 and was not named officially for many more . It is called Dent's disease and affects approximately 250 families in the world . Myself and my older brother carried this genetic mutation from our mother . <br />As this disease progresses it always leads to End Stage Renal Failure by middle age for all males affected . Because of my episode with HUS my disease has progressed at an amplified rate . After many years of keeping it in check and taking the best care of myself I could .<br />This spring my Kidneys reached their end and I am now in Stage 5 Renal failure also known as End Stage . This happened so suddenly that I recently had surgery to implant a Peritoneal dialysis catheter into my abdomen , so that I can perform dialysis on myself in my home 7 days a week . Soon I will be visiting Transplant centers to see if I am a good canidate for Transplant . <br />This has been a huge change for my loved ones and myself. I have always been hard -working and self providing . For the first time since I was 14 years old I am not working . I grew up in a small family owned grocery and deli with my mother and brother. We did that 7 days a week 365 days a year for almost ten years. That time with my family is treasured and priceless . When we closed the store I went to work for a local greenhouse that I love very much. My fellow greenhouse employees and wonderful customers are like a second family and I miss them dearly . So now I face many changes and of course many expenses . <br />I come here very humbly and gratefully to ask for help . I am confident that I will do well dialyzing myself but dialysis is not a cure it only helps you live until a transplant and has many negative side effects. Unfortunately , I do not have any truly close living related donors . My mother and brother carry the disease and my father passed away in 2010 .<br />This will be a long hard fight , I am prepared to do whatever I have to . Everyday we have of this life is precious and I wont let this stop me from experiencing any of it . Anything you can offer to help me fight this battle for life and future is taken with appreciation unlike any I have have offered before .
