Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers, Our hearts are completely broken. On August 5, 2026, our beautiful mother, Juanita Mclaughlin-Pfeiffer, passed away suddenly. Before moving to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, in 2013, Mom spent her entire life in Dundalk, Maryland. She grew up in the community, attending General John Stricker Middle School and graduating from Patapsco High School. It was during her years on the mainland that she married Anthony Mclaughlin having her daughter Christina Mclaughlin in 1984 and later married Michael Pfeiffer, welcoming her beloved son, Brett Michael Pfeiffer, in 1994. Mom was a genuinely gifted communicator who had a rare gift for connection. She had a massive circle of friends, and she had a way of making absolutely everyone feel like they were her best friend. With her great sense of humor, beautiful smile, and an infectious laugh that could light up any room, she brought so much joy to the world. She also had an immense love for animals and cherished the natural beauty around her, eventually falling in love with the stunning Big Island sunsets. Mom lived entirely for her family. She leaves behind her two children, myself (Christina Mclaughlin) and my brother Brett. The absolute light of her life, however, was her grandson, Benjamin Mclaughlin. Mom spent nine wonderful years helping to raise him, and nothing brought her more pure joy than being his grandmother.Since 2024, Mom had been quietly and bravely fighting uterine cancer. While we are completely devastated by her sudden passing, we take deep comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain, is finally at peace, and is now in heaven reunited with her late mother, Carolyn Estell, and her dear friend, Phil Freed. Our Immediate Need Right now our family is facing an urgent financial crisis. We do not have the funds to pay for her cremation services. My time on the Big Island is limited, and as her daughter, my only wish is to be able to properly take her remains back home to the mainland when I leave. We are humbly asking for your help to cover the immediate costs of her cremation and the expenses required to bring her home to her final resting place.
