Kamran Zafar is a dedicated yoga teacher and a cherished member of our studio and community. As someone who has taught alongside Kamran and co-facilitated our Bella Prana yoga retreat with him, I have witnessed firsthand the care, wisdom, and support he brings to every class and gathering. His presence has been a source of inspiration and healing for so many of us. Recently, Kamran suffered a serious injury. He broke his collar bone and required surgery. This unexpected event has left him unable to teach yoga, which is his primary source of income. The road to recovery will take time, and during this period, Kamran will be unable to work and support himself as he normally would. The financial strain of medical bills and everyday living expenses can be overwhelming, especially when paired with the physical and emotional challenges of healing. As fellow teachers, students, and practitioners, we know that yoga is more than just what happens on the mat. It’s about community, compassion, and showing up for one another in times of need. This fundraiser is an opportunity for us to practice Seva—selfless service—by supporting Kamran as he has supported so many of us. Although Kamran did not ask for this fundraiser to be created, he is incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from friends, family, students, and the community. Accepting help does not come naturally to him, which makes this gesture all the more meaningful. Your contribution, no matter the size, will help Kamran focus on his healing without the added worry of financial hardship. Please join us in offering care and support to Kamran during this challenging time. Together, we can help him return to teaching and continue sharing his gifts with our community. Thank you for your generosity, kindness, and encouragement during this time. Infinite Gratitude ~ Maharri
Help Us Raise the Next Generation Through I-Rise Youth Camp I am Maharri Lodge, founder of Wellness Rebirth, a wellness educator, retreat curator, yoga teacher, and community-centered space holder with roots in rural Jamaica. My work is devoted to creating transformative experiences that support healing, self-discovery, cultural connection, and holistic well-being. Through retreats, environmental conservation initiatives, and wellness programming, I aim to bridge ancient wisdom, nature-based healing, and practical tools that empower individuals and communities to thrive. As someone deeply connected to Jamaica and passionate about the upliftment of our youth, I am honored to collaborate with Jah Works and Life Yard to bring forth I-Rise Youth Camp, a two-night camping and wellness retreat for children ages 9–16 from the downtown Kingston inner-city community. This camp is designed to offer more than recreation; it is an opportunity for youth to experience mentorship, mindfulness, cultural pride, creative learning, teamwork, and connection to the healing power of nature. Through activities such as drum making, farming, football, Ital cooking, meditation, and storytelling, participants will gain tools for confidence, resilience, and self-worth. Our fundraising goal is $3,000, which will cover accommodations, meals, facilitator support, workshop materials, and all camp-related expenses. With your support, we can create a safe and inspiring space where young people feel seen, nurtured, and empowered to rise into their fullest potential. Every donation helps us plant seeds of hope, leadership, and transformation in the lives of Jamaica’s next generation. Thank you for believing in this mission and walking with us in service.
