I’m Angela, and I’m asking for help for myself after a medical crisis that turned my life upside down. On July 27, I was bitten by my dog, Gramps, who has since passed away. What started as a terrible injury quickly became much more serious when the bites developed into sepsis. On August 3, I had surgery at All Saints Hospital to remove infected tissue and collect samples for testing. I then learned I was fighting an extremely rare bacterial infection, the kind of one-in-a-million infection that has caused a fierce septic response in my body. I am now one month into what is currently expected to be at least three months of temporary disability, and I have no income coming in while I heal.
I work at a local bakery and cafe, but my job does not provide sick leave or disability pay. Even though I cannot work, rent, utilities, phone, wifi, medical bills, and everyday expenses have not stopped. The funds raised will help me cover the basics I need to survive and recover, including medical bills, bandages and wound care supplies, rent, utilities, regular monthly bills, and food. It is hard for me to ask, but I truly need my community right now. If you are able to give, share, or simply keep me in your thoughts, every bit of support will help me get through this incredibly difficult time.
