What Lillie cares about

I have always admired my mother. She raised 5 girls singly, never asking for any hand-out. After years of helping others, I want to give back finally!

Hello, I'm hosting this fundraiser to help support my brilliant mum! Carrie Newbery needs a wheelchair and a carrier for her oxygen, with funds to help upgrade her home to be more suitable for her disability. Last year, my family had a scare when Carrie Newbery was admitted into the hospital. My younger sister had found her passed out, lying motionless and unresponsive on the sofa. The doctors had explained that CO2 had been suffocating her, making her unable to retain any oxygen; this was a result of her overworking herself and years of smoking. After years of her begging the doctors to take her seriously, she was finally diagnosed with COPD. She was put on 24hr oxygen to help her breathe and reduce a chesty cough that she had been dealing with for years. Along with this diagnosis, Carrie had quit smoking and drinking (successful for a year now), cutting down on energy drinks as much as possible. She had loved working and had planned to go back as soon as possible; unfortunately, after weeks of her manager personally telling me in person that my mum would always have a job with them, they let her go due to her being a ‘risk’ with her oxygen. Carrie worked in a care home based in Stourport-on-Severn, giving her nights and holidays to work full-time because she loved helping others. This year I have been renovating her house in my spare time with help from my student loan. However, I struggle to support myself, and funds run short as the year goes on. I have helped my mum apply for PIP; they have denied her twice due to Carrie being too independent (which is not correct). Meaning the only income she gets is the money from her youngest being in education, and that ends in 4 months. I would like to surprise her with the money to buy her a much-needed wheelchair and an oxygen carrier so she can socialise again. Using the spare money to invest in a drop curb, wheelchair slope, handlebars and a stair lift. Please donate to help Carrie become more independent, less stressed and her house more accessible.
