Help Rebuild Hope for Dianne and Her Community in Jamaica Who I Am & Where I’m From My name is Carol, and I am of Jamaican ancestry,my heart remains deeply rooted in Jamaica and its people. The island — especially Hanover in Westmoreland Parish — was hit very hard by Hurricane Melissa, leaving families devastated and entire communities struggling to recover. My Connection to the Person I’m Helping I’ve known Dianne for over 28 years — we met in school when we were younger and have remained close friends ever since. Over 20 years ago, Dianne returned home to Jamaica to care for her father, who sadly passed away last year. She stayed to continue his legacy of kindness and service to her small community, tending her little farm and living a humble, hardworking life. When Hurricane Melissa struck, Dianne lost almost everything — her home, her farm, and most of her belongings. Seeing someone I care about go through so much has been deeply painful. I’ve been struggling to figure out what I can do beyond myself to help when the task feels so large — but I know that together, with the support of others, we can make a real difference. How the Funds Will Be Used The first goal of this fundraiser is to raise enough to purchase a prefabricated home from a local Jamaican manufacturer — one whose strong, storm-resistant designs have already proven themselves through this Category 5 hurricane. We’re hoping to take advantage of a special deep discount the manufacturer is offering until the end of December, which would make it possible to stretch every dollar further and get Dianne back into a safe home sooner. Any additional funds raised will go directly toward:    •   Helping Dianne rebuild her small farm and restore her livelihood    •   Providing food, clean water, clothing, and essential supplies    •   Supporting others in her immediate community who are also in desperate need Why This Matters Every contribution — no matter the size — will make a real difference.
